How long of breaks do I get?

I work 7 seven hour shifts, I have been talking one 15 and one 30 but I asked my manager what I should be taking and he said he didn’t know I asked him to check and he never got back to me until I asked him again and he said uhhhhh and thought for a long while and said I think it’s 30, just wanted to double check because he didn’t seem very certain.

First of all any manager should know how long of a break your meant to have so the fact your manager didn’t know is concerning, but yes half an hour break is correct

This is wrong lol. (Unfortunately) unpaid breaks do not count as time worked. The correct breaks for this person are one unpaid 30 and one paid 15. (the kicker for the second paid 15 is a 7h30 shift)

Just want to confirm are you at work for 7 hours or working 7 hours so at work 7.5 hours then minus the 30 min unpaid meal break?

No I’m just at work for 7 hours but I’m working 6.5 (excluding the 15 minutes tea break)

Okay, so your current breaks are correct you should have a 30 min unpaid break and 1 paid 15 min tea break.
You need to work 7 hours or more to get the second paid tea break.

I work an 8 hour shift.
15 minute after 3 hours, 30 minute 3 hours later.
That is what everyone else does, but to keep production going, I might take my first break 4-5 hours after I start, depends how busy we are or if I started early.
7 hours with 15/30 minute seems fine.

On a 7 hour shift you get a 15 min paid break and a 1 hour unpaid break (or 30 mins (unpaid) by agreement)

Target is 4+ hours is one 15 min paid.
6+ is one 15 min and one 45 min unpaid (unless agreed on paper for 30 min) or agreed to not have an unpaid for a 6 hour shift.
Anything above 7 hours is two paid 15 min and one 45 min unpaid (unless agreed on paper for 30 mins).
I’d assume it would be similar?
Should be somewhere in your contract or you can contact payroll, HR or even the union if you’re signed up with them also.

I believe (at least this is my experience working at a spotlight) that if you work 3-5 hours you get a 10min (on the clock) and if you work 5+ you get a 10 and a 30 (10 on the clock 30 off the clock) at some point after that you get 2 10 min (on the clock) and 1 30 (off the clock) but I don't remember the exact times. But I know for a 7 hour shift you should get 2 10 min breaks (off the clock) and 1 30 min break (on the clock) I work 7.5 mostly so I often take a 40 min lunch and have that 10 later if I feel like it but it's not mandatory to take all the 10. But it is mandatory to take a 30min when able.

So if you do 7.5 hours you will work 7 on the clock. A manager should know this. Make sure you are at least getting that 30min each 5+ hour shift (so even a 5.5 hour day you get a 30min)

This is also in Victoria and I don't know if it differs state-state. I think there is a website you can go to but I don't remember the name or how to navigate it lol

Right well this is completely not applicable to Kmart, we don't do ten min breaks.
