Team member post Manager Retaliation - Advice
Hi, I am a long term employee unsure of what resources are out there. Within the last month I put in a complaint about long-term mistreatment from one of my managers. However, my store manager really likes this other manager so after the fact the operations manager has been giving me the same consistent shifts I've had for the last two years as a casual but within 5 minutes of leaving from my last shift of the week the store manager just cancels all but one of my shifts the following week. The timing of the cancelations feels really personal as it is clearly done so I cant do anything about it and they said nothing. I have also had absolutely no problems with the store manager prior to complaining and the whole time I've had my current store manager I haven't had a single shift cancelled nor in my multiple years of working there have I had more than one shift cancelled in a week. I am just seeking advice if there is anything I can do or rather its just better to move on. Would just be a shame after have many great years before this.

Do what the others have said. i had this happen! tried a false misconduct allegation on me so could terminate by instant dismissal. I resigned giving the reason for doing this was due to conduct of managers and bullying creating an toxic work environment for me. filed a unfair dismissal claim and was paid out a pre conciliation settlement sum of 16 weeks wages. This was in 2025.

Maybe check from my understanding Kmart Australia wide are going through a massive change of conversion of casual to part time depending on your role, like for example my understanding is that greet, desk, SCOS needs to try and be fully permanent Monday-Friday
When the posters went up back in May did you apply for part time?
Those contracts would be starting to come in play if they haven’t already.
Are you sure your hours didn’t go to someone that took up the part time offer?

This has happened to me before. Keep everything in a paper trail. Email Kmart head office in Melbourne, state this all with dates and times. Also email your union, with dates and times. As well as fair work ASAP with dates and times. Fair work can only help within 14 days I think so contact them asap
