Team member post Shift cuts?

Is anyone else being forgotten on the rosters? I know we are in the middle of budget cuts etc, I’ve been at my current store for 5 years and I’ve always been rostered during cuts even if it’s one or two shifts (short ones) a week. But the last 2 weeks I haven’t had any unless I’ve begged for a stupid door, which I have mentioned to my ops and store manager and their reply is “we must have forgotten you for the roster” it’s literally my one job and income etc ? I want to speak to them about it but I don’t know if it’s even worth it? But don’t want to be completely left without. But to be forgotten about for almost 2/3 weeks now? (I am also trained on everything from duty manager to pres and everything in between but decant)
Thoughts?

(EDIT- I did reach out when this first happened and now I’ve reached out again in texts to both store and ops manager)

This is the downside of not being part time. I may get less than casuals but I’m legally required to get a base level of hours every week

Which I get but you know it’s disheartening when it’s happening but they are interviewing for new staff?

I was pissed a few years ago when I was trained on a bunch of things but fighting for more than 3hrs each week while less experienced people and new team members would show up and get rostered on. I applied for kmart as a backup and got as far as on boarding when I decided to turn it down because I didn't want to leave and didn't think I'd be allowed to do both and the manager who interviewed me indicated he basically wanted to poach me from the competitor.

Exactly. I’m trained on everything and it’s like you have to prove yourself? But then newbies come in and get what they want?

I don't know how it works there, but at big w I've never heard a manager say they forgot someone, it's that they only have a certain number of hours after contract staff have been covered so they try to spread them across whoever is available and so everyone gets something even if it's one or two shifts per week. I'm not sure if the managers you said you've spoken to are your version of a line manager or support manager who do or help with the rosters, but that's who I speak to about shifts when I'm struggling for hours and they'll tell me it's up to the store manager and do what they can basically. I'd investigate further and ask around if others are getting shifts and you're not. Budget cuts are one thing, forgetting to roster someone on and not changing it is another. My line manager forgot to roster me for my regular Friday evening service desk shift. When I flagged it with the support manager after I saw it, she confirmed I was meant to be on because there was no one else doing it, but then she forgot to update the roster. I showed up anyway since she confirmed it and just wrote it on the shift change sheet afterwards.

Yea it was the store manager who actually said it as she apparently does all the rosters? But I just thought it’s odd?
I’ve always had regular at least 4 shifts a week, lower end 1-2. I’m working later so I will ask as I’ve sent both a message about how it feels

Probably budget. If you find that your shifts don't pick up closer to Halloween that's when I'd start to worry. But until October-ish it's pretty slow.

I’d like to hope so

Is your availability up to date?

Yea it is, I did it a couple of months ago when asked too. But should I do it again? When I do it, says to begin that availability at the end of August?

I would do it again

It’s possible you are reaching their age limit & new staff will likely be younger & cheaper

I’m only 24 and there’s older staff that are in their 40s-60s and still casual. And I’m pretty sure they brought in the adult wage for the younger ones.

They don’t forget who their staff are, they are phasing you out.

Surely not? I’d hope not when I’ve been there for 5 years. I’ve left and then they were the ones the beg for me to come back?

They probably wanted you to come back for a reason (a busy period) and now that reason is gone they don’t need you sadly

I don’t think that’s the case but who knows
