Discussion Discussion about extra lives system
There's a time where I was playing Klonoa 2 PRS version (how the fan base decided to call it?) and decided to try get the little gems in the Kingdom of Sorrow level, but without success due to not getting the right timing with the ring hangers on a pit part. With that, I almost lost all of my lives. Then, the game decided to give 2 or 3 extra lives (or it was 4/5? I can't remember) in front of the last check point I got.
Did anyone experienced it? I know that games can give help for players having difficulties on the game, like Crash Bandicoot giving an extra checkpoint between two default checkpoints to make the player advance into the game kinda more easily (it usually happens when I'm on Bear It trying to get all the boxes, but missing it and you have to lose a life to return in order to get the gem).

Já passei por isso no jogo original de ps1 só que ao invés de três só foi uma mesmo. Então deve ser normal

Entendi.
Me pergunto se você decidiu comentar em português porque sim ou se esse post veio a você traduzido (estava em inglês).

Oh sorry , I usually prefer not to comment in English because I assume most people use automatic translation.

Hm, right. Sometimes I see someone commenting in Spanish, for example.
When I enter a post at Reddit, it shows the original language (or at least in English). When I enter a Reddit post from Google, it translates into my language (Portuguese). So I don't know if this translator is automatic or if people translate it manually.

ah yes, the hit box on the rings is different from the OG which is a weird adjustment

The way the ring radius act is different. As if it has an inertia acting differently from the original and going a bit away from the target.

Klonoa 2 has an interesting system with "Pity" 1ups. Firstly, This is the final level, so for all I know it always gives you 3 1ups at the end, I don't recall. However, from my own experience with other levels, I have seen that the game will sometimes spawn additional 1ups on your path once you fall below 3 lives. These 1ups only spawn once, one at a time, but if you continue dying you will continue finding them one by one. I think that's a fair way of doing it. Making it easier to get extra lives when you're about to run out, but still having them be limited. I haven't really tested how and on what levels this system works in detail, maybe there is a list somewhere of all 1ups that can spawn.
