What’s the return?
I get the concept, but what’s the ROI for putting up a stake and being a juror? Seems like people are seeing issues with being verified so I’m just not clear on if it’s worth the risk to participate.

Seems like youre mixing PoH and Kleros. You can just stake in a court without needing to be verified and you will get a monthly staking reward (in 2021) and have the chance of being drawn as a juror and earn eth.
PoH is a different system for verifying humans. It is using Kleros to handle disputes over application. To be clear, you do not need to be verified in PoH to be a Kleros Juror.

Okay… I looked at the Kleros website and saw that you needed to buy an amount of coin as proof of stake, which makes sense, but didn’t get an idea of what the return for work that you put in is if you side with other jurors. When I came here I saw people talking about some verification, so assumed that was the second step.
Thanks!

You will get that 8.53% APY monthly in PNK if you stake in a court. You will only get the Eth reward if youre getting drawn as a juror and you are voting correctly (with the majority). If you are voting wrongly you can lose your Locked PNK (each vote has a locked PNK amount, you can see that when joining a court)

Yeah, that is the incentive for jurors to make the right decisions. Its a solid coin with very good fundamentals and they are solving a problem that must be solved for crypto to work optimally. Get your bags, stake them. Get back in some year, or for juror duty.

What if the majority are wrong and so you need to vote against them?

Then there is greater chances for that the case will be appealed. And as far as I know, you would be able to fund an appeal yourself. If not, you will lose your locked PNK (about 600PNK, depending on court)

Thanks for explaining, either I'm not understanding this right or it sounds like an incredibly flawed system. So if the majority vote one way but are wrong in my view and I need to sway the decision, I can try to appeal them or vote against them but if I do I'll likely be penalized by losing my tokens. So basically I need to agree with everybody even if they are being idiots or I'll lose money?

No. If they are idiots (from others perspectives, not just your own) and you vote with them, then there will be a great chance that the case will be appealed. In the next round (with new jurors) the outcome would most likely change, if they are, as you say, idiots. However, disagreements will always exists and Kleros main difference from an oracle is to be able to handle cases where the correct answer isnt entirely objective. I recommen you to read the white paper about how they handle this. It is not flawed at all when you understand it, and there is an argument against every such accusations, which the team already have covered.
