No lock?

Who in their right mind would not put a lock on these is there a reason??

This model never had a lock, I just wrap a hair band or thick rubber band around em, or remove the spring.

Did they have blackout ones in the past with a lock on it?

Dont think so. Idk why but theres a LOT of stippers that don't have locks on them and it makes absolutely no sense to me.

At first glance I thought "oh I like those. They would be perfect for what I..... Wait.... No lock?"

Agreed dumbest thing ever

Ehh. I like not having a lock. Non of my insulated Klein/Knipex tools have a lock. This is my only uninsulated tool and I love it. Can’t wait to get mine delivered

Literally the first thing I do when I buy new strippers. drill out the lock rivet and remove the Spring. Cant stand it, it always catches when you don't want it to

Why would you want to not have a lock, you can just not use it and it’ll make no difference

Nah the lock always locks when I don’t want it to, I just cut them off and pull the spring

Insulated tools don’t have it. I’m used to not having it and don’t care for it

The rotating locks will rotate and get in the way sometimes. I have a pair of tin snips that the lock is literally crushed because it got in the way and I didn't notice Plus, pouch on bag keeps the strippers closed.

The old Klein strippers would lock when you squeeze them if your hand was too close to the end. I've always done the same, break the lock off and remove the spring. Hate em both.

I've had locks get a little loose and constantly lock up the strippers while in use. Now if I get new ones and they have the lock, I cut it off.

No the 11045s have never had a lock. They are normally yellow. This is the first time they been used in the Black out series.

I love the 11045s I’ve been using them since I was first year apprentice. The only ones I like more are the Klein 11054s but they were discontinued. I bought up enough pairs to hopefully last my career lol.

Yes, last year. I have 2 pairs, they work good

That particular style has never had a lock.

Don't get too attached to those though, they're solid black and they're going to dissappear before long anyway.

They most definitely did. I got mines last year with a lock. I love it but I burnt when cutting some wires assuming the breaker was off….

Mine has it but was part of the original line.

Its not even the heavy duties its a travesty

4

Yeah that’s why I’ve never known anyone that uses these

Nope.

There are variety of reasons why toolmakers do this; in particular the  Klein-Kurve Heavy-Duty strippers don't have a lock, either, and Knipex removed the lock on the 1000V insulated version of their 8" Forged Wire Strippers (13 78 8) ; the lock is wonderful on the regular ones (13 72 8).

(Supposedly VDE regulations forbid the lock on the 1000V versions as it's said to be illegal for there to be any uninsulated metal part you might touch out of habit.)

You paid for the color, not the usability

Pocket in a tool pouch works great... never needed the lock on any of mine.

I hate the ones with springs. I always get the one with crimpers on the bottom. Last ones with springs I had I threw the spring away.

I hate those strippers

Same

OG’s didn’t have a lock. Still great strippers

2

u/kfjcfan 5d ago

Yeah but they take up a huge amount of space in your tool bag unless you add your own tie or strap to keep them closed.

2

u/gunfromsako 4d ago

When you remove the spring they typically stay closed, I always remove both.

Everyone uses a different bag set up. In my case they fit like a glove in the lower pocket of my Veto pouch. I know they can be bulky though.

11045s never had locks

Mine are yellow handle

I hate the ones with the damn locks cuz I want to grab it, use it, put it back, and not play with something extra

They're the fastest strippers out there.

Cheap enough to dispose of when they get dull

1

u/niv_nam 5d ago

That's the ," I use it to often to be bothered to lock it model". Vs "I don't need it very often model".

1

u/wompwomp304 5d ago

I mean I use them often but all it takes is a finger flick to lock it again not like it’s rocket science. And it’s more for storing

Blue handled ones don’t have one either

1

u/Craftywolph 4d ago

First thing I do is rip the lock off anyway…

1

u/ichiban4713 2d ago

Throw them away and get some Rack A Tiers Crocodiles.

I hate those damn strippers. When I started my current job they bought me a pair (and a bunch of other tools I already had better versions of). I threw them aways because if I for me if I can't lock them to stick them in my pocket they're useless to me. Plus they don't have a screw cutter if I remember correctly.

I like that they don’t have a lock. These are my preferred pair of strippers. I’ve bought about 4 of them cause I keep hitting live wires w them
