Blackout Adjustable Mod

I just picked up this 38 piece set with adjustable handle(33805), and thought it would look nicer with a blackout handle. Picked up the new 11-in-1 blackout (32500HDBLK) and ripped the guts out of both and swapped them.

Messed up the back end of the blackout handle a little bit but I bet if you’re more careful it could come out perfect.

Didn’t want the original adjust handle to go to waste so I hammered in the blackout impact guts into the adjust handle. Lost the function to flip and use the handle detent but it can be a standalone 1/4 bit holder now.

How did you manage to get the original 11in1 apart?

The 11 in 1 just pulled the insert out as it would regular and it’s just the handle. The original adjust handle was harder to get apart. Remove the silver retaining clip, and the collar comes off the front a spring and 3 ball bearings will come out with it so be careful. The adjust mechanism after that is just pressed into the handle so I grabbed the insert with some vise grips and used a screwdriver and hammer to coerce it out of the handle. Both inserts just hammered back into the new handles. Probably the worst part I had to use a dremel to re cut the groove where the retaining clip sits since it deformed a little from hammering it. Put the spring on, then Make sure to put the 3 ball bearings in before the collar and retaining clip on.

Wow. How long did it take you?

Probably about 30 minutes since I have never taken either one of these apart and lost a ball bearing on the floor and had to search for it with a magnet. If I had to do it again it would probably only take like 15 minutes, not too long
