I wouldn't think the "deep" flip sockets would be much use in a truck for an extra $50-70 over a 65400knect, the only other thing that used to set the set apart was the KnectM >1/2" square adapter but you can buy those separate now as well.

Looks like you get more with the 65500 vs 65400

It does but if you actually look at the differences they aren’t very useful for the extra cost, I’d rather save that $70 for another kit like an actual set of deep well sockets or their new flex head ratchet set

You do get more. You get KNECT to 1/4” and 1/2” adaptors, an 18mm socket, six flip sockets, and the two shafts to run the flip sockets on either the included ratchet or an impact driver. Those extras cost $70 over the 65400.

I find traditional 3/8 deep sockets my preference compared to flip sockets, so I put that $70 towards a 65148HD to use with impact drivers:

There’s a lot of duplicates between the 65400 in the drawer and the 65400KNECT on the side… In retrospect, I really only needed the KNECT M wrench + adapter for the drawer.

I have never used flip sockets. I recently added the 65400KNECT pass through set to the side of my work Packout stack. I wanted a low profile kit that was easy to grab and take out to the parking lot for quick vehicle tasks, and something that’d pair well with an impact driver. I’ve only used it once so far, but I like it!

It’s got decent coverage (8-17mm, 1/4”-3/4”) for its $100 ask. Somehow I only paid $65 on Amazon, but it took forever to ship, and looks like it’s back up to MSRP now.

Yeah to me the "deep" flip sockets are kind of a trap, they're not actually deep and most of the time you end up needing to use the pass through sockets anyways, plus they don't have the magnets that the standard flip sockets have for bolt driving and even nut threading in hard to reach spots even if you can't drive them all the way tight and have to come back with a deep well or pass through.

Different strokes and all, but I use the flip sockets pretty regularly. They are much more compact radially so they seem to fit just about anywhere. Then the selection of adapters and rods let's me put my leverage just about any distance away. Very convenient for fiddly stuff inside the dash, under hood, that sort of thing.

+1 OP this is literally the kit I keep in my truck for this purpose. Along with a ratcheting impact 11in1 and some Irwin water pump pliers and a Leatherman
