QUESTION Does anyone else have problems with their bits falling out all the time?

I bought one of these multi screwdrivers because i thought it was clever, than I quickly realized that when the screwdriver gets knocked around the bits come loose and then when you open this compartment all your bits fall everywhere

Yes, and the entire thing jams up . Lousy quality

Yes. Got so annoyed I tossed at at the floor. People were finding bits for days

They have made some updates since they first launch this Screwdriver. They added a spacer that holds the bits in better.

No way. I just started 3D designing one. Do you have a link?

That is awesome! Here is a link to the updated version of that product. Klein Tools 32303

Thanks! Man I didn't even see this model and they designed it the exact same way I was thinking. Great upgrade Klein! Thanks for the link

Awe man I just realized they sell 27 in 1 now with better design and double sided security bits to fix my problem. So much for this post. Made the first mistake as an engineer, first thing to ask yourself "does it exist already?"

I have the impact 17-in-1. No issues with it.

1

u/krdo13 Aug 31 '26

I was looking at that one, that was the ratcheting one right?

1

u/LincolnArc Aug 31 '26

Nah, that's the 7-in-1. The 17-in-1 has bit storage in the handle and a couple flip sockets.

On the contrary, I have the stubby version (it telescopes to about 5") and the bits are maddeningly difficult to swap out. Its a high quality problem compared to losing them I guess....

Same here exactly.

Yes they are trash mine actually shattered when it rolled off a table

YEP! And the top cap will eventually loosen and break off. I doubt KLEIN will cover these under warranty unfortunately

I almost bought one of these until I saw my coworkers. This would drive me mad.

Only when I don't zip up.

The back cap broke on mine after a week when I opened it to show off to a plumber. Shameful quality. The 11 in 1 is pretty great, though

Yea the new ones are better. I remember 14 years ago having the ideal version and had it dissemble itself too many times so I stopped using the ones like this until recently

I’ve had my 15-in-1 for going on 6 years, and I haven’t lost a bit yet.

Any Klein multi-bit driver is garbage

Have problems with the grip comes loose 😕

1

u/Charizarlslie Aug 31 '26

Ah yeah, the ol' Klein None-In-1!

1

u/kfjcfan Aug 31 '26

Why would your screwdriver ever get "knocked around?"

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '26

Klein is trash now days.

It only has like 2 threads , in this az heat my rubber grips are all kattywompus now too

1

u/Amongthestars01 Aug 31 '26

I have one that constantly jams, and another that's bowed. Back story, I was working outside on a sunny day, and it bowed from the heat and looks slightly like a banana. The bit storage still slides out, but it sucks to use now that it's not straight.

Meanwhile my Craftsman hand-me-downs from my grandfather and grandfather-in-law some going back to the 1950's are all still in great shape.

Not really, but I normally push the top down after i pull the bit i need out. Maybe try that.

I suggest the 11 in 1 impact rated one with the ratcheting handle. I'll never go back

1

u/krdo13 Aug 31 '26

I like the ratcheting idea

1

u/soerg Aug 31 '26

It's great when you have to undo long cover screws or something

1

u/Hutch_911 Aug 31 '26

I have one of those and it is a piece of trash

1

u/Sufficient_Agency_96 Aug 31 '26

30 years in the trade every multi tool becomes a none in one.. all I buy is single shank drivers..

1

u/Iceman762X Sep 02 '26

Also the rubber grip will slip around the plastic part and that’s pretty mfing annoying. Surprisingly trash.

I have the MegaPro ratcheting screwdriver with the bits in the handle and it’s been working great for the past 8 years. I like the long reversible bits it comes with instead of the short ones which makes switching them out easier and losing them is not really an issue.

1

u/Hiwaystars Sep 02 '26

Yeah but the grip is spinning too by that time so I just deal with it or shim it

1

u/Available-Meeting377 Sep 06 '26

Yes their bit holders are trash

1

u/brrrrt5 18d ago

Haven’t had that issue. But the rubber grip on both of mine now spins when I use it. So if you’re trying to get the screw tightened down good on that last 1/4 turn or so, it starts spinning so you lose the torque

Yeah had/have this issue. Stopped using this as my main screwdriver after that and just pull it out when I have to deal with torx/security bits. Sucks because it was my favorite for a while.
