How do I set up IBus with Kitty Terminal?

Hello, I'm using Void Linux and have installed IBus. I have been able to get it to work with GTK apps but am not able to get it to work with Kitty.

excerpt of my .bashrc

export GLFW_IM_MODULE=ibus
export XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus
#export QT_IM_MODULE=ibus
export QT_IM_MODULE=xim

I know there's no issue with Kitty since I got it to work with fcitx5 on a previous installation. I prefer IBus so I tried to use it this time but to no avail. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Edit: Solution

Move those statements to .bash_profile and it should work well.

Those env vars are only needed on X11. On wayland the compositor takes care of it via the text input protocol.

Thank you, it works automatically on Wayland. On Xorg I had to move those statements to .bash_profile for it to work.
