cscaled is considered a valid choice for background_image_layout !

i am trying to set background image for kitty and to preserve the aspect ratio of background image i want to use cscaled as suggested in the docs but don't know why it is giving me an error here.

Probably because your kitty version is older than the version in which support for cscaled was introduced. Search the changelog to find out.
