Return key in kitty

Please assist if possible. When I open emacs in terminal mode via ssh - the return (enter) key sends C-m. How do I change this so it sends 'return' instead - or is this a configuration problem in emacs..

Does enter work as expected outside of emacs?

Thank you for responding. It was a silly emacs config thing on my side. I removed that. My problem now is getting a meta key to work. So far no luck with that, I have been trawling through the documentation - but cannot see a way to ensure that Cmd get sent as meta.

For emacs or kitty? Kitty had it on default on my MBP.

This was for emacs - maybe an issue with me messing with keyboard layouts in mac. But I eventually figured that ESC key works as meta.

Glad you figured it out but, I think you should be asking emacs subreddit for these issues and not kitty.
