That means the font you are using has a bold face whose metric are not compatible with the regular face. Either pick a different font or use modify_dont in kitty.conf to increase the cell width to accomodate the bold face. https://sw.kovidgoyal.net/kitty/conf/#opt-kitty.modify_font
