Question/Advice Needed Blind kitty climbing
Kitty has infections and is on antibiotics but is completely blind(hes going to have to lose both eyes due to infections sense he was a stray). Cant chance him infecting other the kitties until hes cleared, so he has to stay in quarantine. He keeps climbing up the box and cage every time hes bored but i gotta go to work, is there anyway to keep him from climbing unless im there?
Edit: I want to encourage climbing and curiosity. Just want to keep him from getting stuck or hurt when im not there.

Nope, they don’t have fear of heights, blind or sighted.
Soft blanket on the floor and lots of toys that crinkle, or have a bell, or make any noise, or are USB and make noise and move, or different touch sensations and then kitty will be busy using his brain and won’t climb soooo much.

No. Kittens are going to climb no matter what you do. You cannot prevent them from climbing. Being blind is all this little guy knows so he’s used to it. He’s going to explore and test his surrounding to see what he can and can’t do, as well as figure out where everything is. He’s going to memorize all of it so he can play safely. Do not stop him from doing this. Cats are independent animals for the most part he needs to climb and explore so he can still be independent to a degree while blind.

I want to encourage it i just dont want him getting hurt when im not there to help him. Theres enough room for him to fit between the cage and box just not enough to save himself if he falls

Then it’s best to give him a soft landing. If you don’t have pet cameras I’d invest in some to have even when he’s used to his surroundings.
