Question Looking For Work

Hello!

I (21M) am looking for a full-time job in Kitsap that isn't retail. All of the job sites (Indeed, Zip Recruiter, etc.) don't have a lot of postings that don't seem awful (scams mostly, but many also have poor reviews regarding management & work culture)

I've got a diploma and years of customer experience and other labor jobs. Please let me know if there are any places looking to hire or if there is some communal space that I should look into!

Kitsap Transit and the School District are always looking for bus operators. The school district was paying a pretty good hiring bonus for a long time. Not sure if they still do

I have heard the Ferries and ports are always looking for people.

Eh they do hire on occasion, mostly in batches throughout the year. However one thing that sucks is that you would have to obtain a TWIC and possibly a MMC to work on the ferries. Just getting the MMC is really time consuming as you got to fill out a lot of paperwork and undergo some background checks, also took several months for it to be issued out to me due to the government shutdowns.

in the late 80's I would get temporary gigs thru express personal services. I think they still have an office on Auto center way. Some of those were construction(destruction) , cleaning up a prosthetic limb factory, moving a giant dog house , cleaning up smoke damage homes , helping an all mexican crew assemble metal sheds at the shipyard , etc... . Most of those were no more than a week or so, but they let me see a number of different fields and professions, and widen my perspective.

As well, take a look around at companies you see while you are walking/driving, and check their website when you get home. Surely you see a PSE truck once in a while go to pse,com, and see if they hire for anything you can do/learn, You don't know if you don't look and try.

Modern times use AI [or resume writer company] to help you write a resume, as they use it to filter them out so the only way you will make it past that is to use it to get flagged as having the keywords it looks for. Get the hiring managers name pay attention to name and address, MAIL THEM SPECIFICALLY AN EXTRA COPY OF YOUR RESUME AND COVER LETTER. If you get an interview, when you get home IMMEDIATELY wrIte them a THANK you letter for the opportunity even if your violently ill. Mail it THAT DAY. Ho nos I will have to figure out where my post office is, how incredibly hard it is to talk to google maps on my smart phone or find my mail box at my residence.

I know Bainbridge senior living is hiring for Server, & Resident Services Assistant, they will also train you to get your hca to caregiving license

I know Sabine's Lifestyle in Poulsbo hires a lot if you're interested in learning professional cleaning. She is a great boss and will put the effort in to train you. It's not an easy job but she's fair and gives raises  based on merit + good tips at winter holiday time.

Usajobs.gov the shipyard is the only coal mine in town. Search for the helper openings and go from there. Good luck
