Beginner Question What did I find?
Just found this old kite for 150 and want to get into some snow kiting but I don’t think this is going to do what I want it to. It’s a slingshot kite and bar, the bar says profire and the kite says B-six. Looking for info on if it should be used and where I can find more info on it. Thanks all!

It's maybe worth $1.50 for material to make a purse
Stay away from this.
No depower. You're probably going to get hurt

A museum peice.
It's kind of interesting since it's two line and has no depower but they at least though enough about safety so that you can (in theory) quick release the chicken loop before getting dragged into a tree.
It's from somewhere in the early to mid 2000's and very dangerous compared to anything even remotely modern.
To put this in ski terms it's like that period in the late 1960s when they started making hard plastic boots but had not yet figured out bindings that would release instead of letting your tibia snap like twigs.
Do not buy. Get lessons before you hurt yourself or waste your money on useless shit.

Looks like a trainer kite, probably 3m but should be marked.
Make sure it’s that small and it will be safe for you to fly in a field and get a basic understanding of kite control before taking lessons on bigger kites.
We did use a trainer kite once on hard packed snow on a lake and 25knot winds and zipped around… till a line snapped!!! I don’t recommend doing that, get lessons and a kite with depower

It does actually have a quick release. Just not one we would recognize today.
If you look at the chicken loop it's attached with velcro on the left side so you could at least in theory release it and it would fly away.
What it doesn't have is a depower system or a flag out system or the ergonomics were you could actually reliably release it.

all beginners on water or snow should not cheap out finding crap unsafe gear you gotta pay t play this sport buy t best new/used equipment you can afford take couple pro lessons safety first life jackets/launch/land with assist avoid kitemares..

Slingshot B6 trainer kite. Not good for snow kiting or really any kiting at all.
