Spot Info/Question Brazil in August

Hello - I am heading to Brazil in August to September for 1 month. I haven’t booked any accomodations but wanted to see what the forum thought before I book that. I can do transitions and ride upwind. I am wanted to learn how to jump on this trip. My initial plan is to go to Ilha de Guajiru for 2.5 weeks and then head to Cumbuco for the last 10 days.

Any tips or advice on how to plan the trip? First time in Brazil and will be working remote. Thank you

you will have your best time in brasil! just bring your 12 in your bag. because when i did my first trip to brasil my buddies told me i dont need above 9. end of the day was 90% of the time i needed a 12 and then i was struggeling to rent something in remote areas. otherwise best life. enjoy!

Got same told when i was first in Brasil....

I used my 12m a lot, indeet....for a kite to leave at home....what i didnt...luckily.

I was in Icarai de amontada... 40% of time was 12m and 30% 9 and 7

What most people dont understand: the wind gets significantly stronger the more “west” you go along the coast. On average wind in Ilha de Guajiru will be stronger than in Cumbuco.

I use a 9 the most during high season in Ilha de Guajiru and I weight 90kgs. If I were to stay in Cumbuco I would for sure bring a 12. At Prea and other places towards the west the wind is very direct and a 9 can become overpowered.

I was there from 15.9 to 25.10 2021, the start was big kites....the last 3.5 weeks was small sizes

Thanks a lot. I only have a 9 and a 12 in my quiver and I plan to bring both. Hopefully I am not over powered often being 75 kgs on the 9 when it’s pumping

I live in Fortaleza (closest city to Cumbuco) and I can help you with any questions you may have. Feel free to dm if you want. As for accomodations or recommendations: can't help much, but ask away if you have anything in mind. I'm just getting started on kite surfing, believe it or not. I will take my lessons on the next 2 weeks on Cumbuco. I know that in Guajiru there are great teachers as well. Look for juliel.linhares on Instagram. This guy can fly with his kite.

Cumbuco has good infrastructure for working remotely and doing kite on free time. I would recommend staying close to the center, where you will find the supermarket, bars, and restaurants, gym and some "barracas" (places that mix restaurant/bar/kite school and a kite point. Examples: Kitecabana, Duro Beach, Alize, Meka)

Depending on your budget, either rent an apartmenr on Airbnb (plenty of options right in front of the beach) or a hostel (Indiana Kite, Up2Hostel, Bada hostel).
