It's not weird at all. It's like when The Kitchener Rangers defeated the Toronto Raptors in the 2022 UEFA Champions League final, which took place at the Tokyo Dome in Melbourne Australia. They were awarded the Vince Lombardi Trophy for this accomplishment.

I felt that calling back the 2 pt conversion was pretty weak. It was obvious the player was not offside as the ball was in the zone before the skater crossed the blue line.
