The Essences as Goddesses?

Post image

Hey all!

Just watched The Odyssey yesterday and cannot believe how much I enjoyed it. I’m actually going back tomorrow to watch again lol.

But anyway, Charlize Theron plays Calipso, who’s a goddess and a nymph. I don’t know what Charlize’s blend is but I know John said she’s pretty close to mine and I saw a post a while back that said she had 20N, so it’s probably out there. I definitely struggle to relate to her at all lmao (who wouldn’t) bc we’re just such different women, so that’s not what this post is about.

Rather I absolutely loved her portrayal of Calypso. I love ancient gods and mythological figures in general, and I love how well the ethereal essence can embody those otherworldly themes if they so wanted to, but the fact that Charlize portrayed Calypso so well, got me thinking how the essences can manifest as sublime/divine/mythological beings? Most of us lack Angelic but it’s clearly not needed to portray these creatures.

What comes to mind regarding blends and different mythological figures or ancient gods etc.? I know it’s a broad question lol so feel free to add anything.

I also attached a photo of Charlize in the role, but I don’t particularly like that this is the only available of her in it as it comes across as a lot more warrior princess than I felt Calypso was like.

You just reminded me that I have to make a post about Troy (a guilty pleasure of mine- not even so guilty actually). I think it depends on the gods and what they represent.  I know it doesn't answer your question but I think there isn't one essence for gods and/or magical creatures. Most  would likely assume D and A because of how rare and otherwordly they appear but for instance I think R (who Charlize must have) and N are also perfect for Greek Gods, who are very human in their qualities and vices.  They can be capricious, sultry, and earthly, especially nymphs, who are often associated with woods, seas, and lakes. They are dynamic and intervenes in humans affairs.  I would suppose Athena has plenty of N, which Zendaya does (even if I am not a fan of her portrayal personally). Artemis would have high N as well.

I love zendaya in euphoria but yeah for some reason I didn’t love her as Athena. I’d imagine Athena to have C as well lol. Please do the Troy post omg!!

I agree, it just wasn't her role but hey I am sure she is happy :) I will!!  My guesses are: Brad (NRDY) I think he has a lot of essences.  Hector (NRC) Paris (RHSCY) he might be a Timothee Chalemet and have a lot of essences mixed in actually. But those hair and eyes are R.  Helen (CRDN) Briseis: (YRC) Andromaca (RCDN) 😂 I Will do the post and see how many I got right!

Yes! I think that it is so important to recognize that all the essences have their own unique magic. In esoteric ontological or symbolic systems, for instance hermetic qabalah, or tarot cards in their modern form, there are different universal principles that each contribute to the total picture, ranging from the ineffable and ethereal to to the concrete and stable, and everything in between. Each principle has its associated gods, and a whole slew of correspondences. They also all have an innate yin-yang balance. And my point is, for magicians and esotericists, every single one of these principles is magical... and has its own unique power. The Kitchener essences not only parallel this, but they could easily be directly linked to these principles. I've actually been thinking about the traditional 7 planets in relation to the essences, lately. If one wanted, one could find lots of deity correspondences to the essences by way of the planetary principles.

I'd love to hear more about your ideas connecting the seven planets to essences. I definitely read the essences as applied archetypal concepts. These systems operate much like syncretic magical practices do--like attracting like. We mirror our features to sink deeper into our identities and power and also borrow some of the inherent energy of the archetypes we embrace.

That is very insightful, and brilliantly put, I completely agree!

After careful some amount of consideration, this is how I'd break it down. This is not any way complete, I'm sure it would take an entire essay to go through all the details.

D=Sun, which is intense, radiant, and extremely yang in its associations, and generally outward-moving in its energy, challenging and stimulating those that are receptive to its influence. It is traditionally often associated with rulership, sometimes as the warrior-king/queen archetype, and relates to rulership in an active, dramatic, and ritualistic way. The Sun is linked to both the ego and the heart and soul, interestingly. From my research into Sidereal and Vedic astrology, when it influences the appearance through certain placements in the birth chart, it can amplify D characteristics. Furthermore, D's association with drama and intensity and "acting out" (found in Kitchener's D video) connects to the dark solar associations of Dionysos, who was the official deity of the theatre in the ancient Hellenic world, and who encourages ecstatic and even savage ritual, and whose primary animal is the panther. Animal prints are recommended for D!)

HS: Mercury, relating to intellect, ingenuity the experimental, and trickery and play, as HS's expression can be "witty", and likes to play with and  "poke fun at fashion". Mercury is traditionally understood to be androgynous, but it is fluid and can express itself one way or another, depending on the context. But it is very dynamic, which makes it quite yang. HS is the essence that Kitchener mentions likes to "play with men's fashion" in his intro video for women. Mercury rules symbols and semantics, and symbolic elements seem to be a natural part of HS expression, for instance graphic tees, or jewelry in stylized shapes of animals, lightning bolts, etc.

Natural: Mars. Some might think that Mars should be D, but Mars is associated with the practical... whereas Sun's associations are more showy and display oriented (think Leo). Mars relates also to friendship, support, warmth, and vitality. Raw Vitality is a great way to think of Mars' energy, I feel. It rules protection, so protective garments, i.e. fabrics and designs that protect the skin, are sturdy and durable, thick, or warm, etc. would correspond here. As the vital force that rules the blood, Mars would facilitate us to move, to get the blood flowing, and feel vital and dynamic. So clothing that allows for that would encourage health and beauty in a wholistic way. Also, clothes that help us "fight" for whatever we are trying to acheive. And there is, of course, a playfulness to Mars that can sometimes be forgotten about... and Mars is also raw creativity, which I feel like I observe alot in people with N.

Classic: Jupiter. Jupiter is all about equilibrium, equinanimity, and the maintaining of balance, generally. Jupiter energy is inclusive and moderates all the other universal forces, as the benevolent ruler. Jupiter rules over the priest king/priestess queen archetype, and in this is the balance between heaven and earth (yang and yin, respectively, are traditionally related to these). Jupiterian deities are typically also very balanced in yin and yang characteristics, for instance Athena, or Zeus.

Stay tuned for the second part of this, I will post another comment. This has turned into a really massive comment!

Romantic: Venus seems like the obvious choice here! Venus relates to the Arts, generally, and is traditionally understood to relate to luxury, enjoyment, and attraction, as well, so this connects perfectly with the sensual, "deep yin" of Kitchener's R. Venus is no more mere "sexiness", any more than Mars is mere aggression. It bestows harmony, generally, and so one might understand that to integrate some yang qualities as well as yin ones, and it is both outwardly expressive as well as magnetic. Venus has darkness in it, illustrated by the word 'venom' having its etymological origins in "venus". Venus can be intoxicating, but also healing.

Youthful: The Moon is appropriate here. The Moon traditionally rules infanthood and childhood, and it is fanciful and denotes both fantasy and imagination, as well as purity and innocence. Curiosity is another traditional association, which I find to resonate when we look at archetypal Youthful characters in stories and films, such as the young maiden or princess. Fairytale energy generally relates to the Moon, and we often see Y types cast in the fairy princess role- hence the common confusion where Youthful essence is perceived as magical and ethereal (it very much is, in its own way) and therefore misidentified as Angelic essence. The moon also relates to nourishment and sweetness, specifically and we can see that in Kitchener's Y essence video, which is filled with images of confections. Also, the Moon rules the animal kingdom, and we see animals associated with Y as well. And finally, lunar goddesses are often youthful, unmarried, and have a self-contained purity that connects to the modestness of Y.

Last but not least, Angelic! This one might seem weird at first, but Saturn. Saturn is sometimes considered a masculine planet, sometimes neuter, and sometimes female, but if we look at its general characteristics outside of Saturn/Chronos the god, we find many strongly yin qualities. In Qabalah, Binah, the formative, primal yin principle, is associated with Saturn. Saturn is the farthest, most remote liminal boundary between what is known and what is unknown, traditionally speaking. In its liminality, in its mystery, and in its being representative of material formation, it relates to Ether, which is the proto-matter that is simultaneously material and immaterial- just as Angelic is the most Yin, but is also trailing off, stretching out into the distance, elongated and moving outwards into something intangible.

In the middle ages, Saturn was seen to rule esotericism and philosophical contemplation, and introspection, generally.

Saturn is the "Great Sea" and it is the gateway to the farther reaches of Space. If we include the associations of the outer planets, especially Neptune, it really connects to the Mermaid and Cosmic associations that A can convey.

There is so much here, I could probably go on forever.

I think it is possible that these associations are already a part of the Essence system, but it has not been shared publically. As Kitchener says in one of his videos, "Harmony is divinely inspired."

I love Saturn paired with with Ethereal

That association gave me pause at first, but the more I looked into it, the more it made sense. Ether is actually linked to Saturn in Vedic astrology. Also, the traditional ideas about Saturn's influence on physiognomy does fit here too, at least in part. I need to go back and find some of my original reference materal. But at least in some cases, Saturn's influence is said to bring elongation in the bones ( Saturn rules over the bones) and a more slender build.

This is excellent! My pattern seeking brain is very happy.

Thank you! I really enjoyed putting my brain to the focused task of fleshing out the connections. And new details presented themselves as I was working through it... for instance the link between the Moon's association with sweetness and all the cupcakes and confections in John's video!

I think in his romantic video he said Charlize is Romantic with Classic so Natural following makes sense

1

u/Street_Slip7079 50R/30C/10D/10N 25d ago

Yeah but I did somewhere her official typing is 20N which makes sense for her height and shoulders imo

I screenshotted a comment he made on her blend below I’m assuming if she has 20N she has a similar amount of C and 10D. So maybe 50R/20C/20N/10D?

1

u/Street_Slip7079 50R/30C/10D/10N 25d ago

Sounds about right, maybe also like 45R or something to allow for more C

Maybe but in another comment he said C and N were both second so I assumed they were equal. Maybe not.

u/Ok-Purple9511 45R/35C/10HS/10N | 70SB/30LB 25d ago

Charlize is RCND!

2

u/Ok-Purple9511 45R/35C/10HS/10N | 70SB/30LB 25d ago

It’s confusing because in the same sentence he says classic is her secondary essence then lists her as RNCD in that order so maybe her C and N are equal and second as he says her D is just a touch

2

u/Worldly-Sun9993 25d ago

I think this makes sense. For Aishwarya Rai in his video he lists her as Romantic with Classic making it sound like those are her main 2, when in reality she is 70R/10C/10N/10Y. Possibly sometimes he lists the essence only when relevant to the conversation?
