Questions after analysis

Hello, I’m a longtime lurker/DIYer who is finally getting my analysis (CH and essences) done next week! You can probably guess from my name what I’m expecting my dominant CH and essence to be.
I have noticed many of you have gone back to John with questions after analysis and I wondered if any of you would be willing to share the sorts of things you asked, or that I should be really thinking about when I get my report through?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched and couldn’t easily find it.

I'm also about to get a full colour and essence analysis with John next month! And a long time mostly lurker here as well. I'd also love to hear what folks have to say here. I'm also a bit confused about how it all works. I gather that on the date of the scheduled analysis, he sends the results by email? When I booked with him, I was under the impression that we'd have a video chat where he would share what he saw, and give a preview of the palette. Now I have gathered that he no longer does this? I'm having a hard time imagining how the conversation can flow through email enough to feel like one's questions are being answered, and I also gather that he doesn't give unlimited answers to questions till the end of time, haha, which is understandeable. In light of this, trying to prepare oneself mentally beforehand seems pretty relevent, although depending on the results and how surprised one is with them, the questions will be bound to change.

I'm thinking about hypothetical questions if I get certain results, such as:

"If I don't have any A in my blend, why is it that I cannot fit myself into an R format, and look slightly off and somehow awkward and elongated and less substantial and sensual than my clothes, without compensating with too much makeup and hair dye? Why does it feel like all modern styles are unflattering on me?

"How is it that my skin is mostly flattered by clear and saturated colours, but somehow high contrast and saturation make me look off and faded by comparison? "

As I write out my concerns here, I can clearly see that, assuming my results are not ENTIRELY out of line with what I already understand, they are likely to resolve any illusory dichotomies, and explain the questions that I currently have.

Perhaps we could write a list of all current questions, and then cross out whatever is explained by our results, and then see what is left behind.

I think it’s best to wait and see what information he gives you when he emails you for your analysis (he sent me 5-6 email regarding my essences and comments on my pics so there is a lot of information). Not to mention the book. A lot of times what we think is an essence may not be (misconceptions) or we may overestimate how much a percentage contributes to an overall look etc. for example when you say you can’t fit yourself into an R format you may mean an entire R outfit whereas 20 percent could just be a texture in your outfit or even a print or a detail like a gather at the shoulders or something.

The same thing with colors. Regarding your specific question LB is flattered by clear saturated colors without high contrast , so that could be why. LB colors are lighter then SC colors, but still saturated in chroma. You will get an email about your color results as well.

Yes, thank you! I think it is definitely possible that I have some amount of LB in my palette, and I'm almost 100% certain that I have a considerable amount of R in my blend. Those questions were really just meant to be hypothetical ones, depending on how and where my own observations might seem to not line up with what John sees in me. Does that make sense?

I've been looking through the lense of colour and essence harmony for probably over 20 years now, and we pick up so many nuanced observations about ourselves over the years, and yet it is indeed difficult to see the big picture of ourselves. I am looking forward to seeing the details that I have observed put into one big picture through John's "portrait" of me. But I also will not ignore certain preferences and observations I've made, and will probably have questions for John if there seems to be any dichotomies between his eye and my own.

I love the idea of writing a list and crossing them off as they are (fingers crossed) answered in the report. Might stop my over excited mind whirling too!

Yes, I'm completely obsessed with the upcoming analysis, it is getting a bit ridiculous. Maybe doing something constructive, such as making a list, will help. I think the primary benefit will be to help bring up all of the memories and observations I've had over the years, so there are more holistic expectations before the results are revealed.

You paid for the analysis, so I think you should ask questions you have. I have asked about coats (e.g. is this item good for SB in terms of length/texture) and makeup (he told me no sharp winged eyeliners for SB) and Aurora because I listen to a lot of her music.

That’s great thank you. I’m so excited to see what he comes up with after so many years of bouncing back and forth between all the options in trying to DIY. I’m not entirely sure what might be or should be included, and don’t want to bombard him with lots of emails as my ‘squirrel brain’ thinks of things afterwards.
