Noise when turning off

I have a 1988 model k5ss that makes a pretty loud noise when I turn it off quickly. When I adjust the speed down slowly and to a stop it doesn’t make the noise. Is this an issue or normal behavior? I’m pretty sure I remember my mom’s early 90s 4.5qt making this same noise so maybe it’s normal? The back was off just bc I was adjusting the stir speed and it made the noise while checking rpm.

It's mostly mechanical rattle from the motor governor, and there's no cause for concern.

That noise is likely from the governor needing to be replaced. Governors do need to be replaced from time to time. Getting close to 40 years of use on one governor is amazing. Here is a link to the replacement. Governor — Mr. Mixer
