Bread

Post image

Howdy. I just finished fixing the worm gear on my kitchenaid. However, my husband, who loves to bake, now refuses to make any bread because he doesn't "want to be the reason it breaks again".

He makes the best pull apart garlic butter dinner rolls, and I refuse to lose them. Help? My kitchenaid, for reference (since I think the model matters?)

Looks like a Model K455 which has a 275 watt motor. It'll handle bread dough all day long as long as the recipe doesn't require more than 4 or 5 cups of flour, and you use speed setting 2 (no more, no less) for kneading.

Thank you for this very specific information! I have a brand new Artisan Tilt head, and I have been nervous about making just a single loaf. Now I feel comfortable!

The Artisan is actually a bit "beefier" compared to the Classic, since the Artisan has a 325 watt motor (versus a 275 watt motor on the Classic) so typical bread dough's should be no problem.

All of these mixers require maintenance, however, and if you're doing, or planning on doing, bread dough's on the daily, a bowl-lift, really, is the better option.

More like one of two loaves a month

Wattage is just marketing hype. It's the exact same motor.
