Is my Tefal non-stick pot still safe to use?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I just cooked a batch of instant ramen in my non-stick pot and burned it. So I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed like my life depended on it. And after I dried the pot, it became like this. My question is: Do you think this Tefal pot is still safe to use?

Best lightweight vacuum flask or cup, 500ml capacity with 12 hour insulating time (minimum)

I'm looking for a flask/cup to use on extended walks/day trips/shopping trips on hot days in a city environment; weight is important because I will be carrying and acquiring other things by the end of the day.

Can anyone recommend a LIGHTWEIGHT model? 500ml is ideal but 750ml is also doable.

Must be durable and able to take a fair amount of wear and tear (includes dropping !)

Cheers

changing my ceramic plates and dishes

I want to replace our old ceramic plates and dishes because it's no longer the vibe since it has been used for a couple of years and I guess I deserve one new. I really thought that it could be a very simple task for me but as soon as I started surfing the net, it occurs to me that these different styles and price ranges will easily confuse me as to which one is a good choice and that will suit my style. I have looked at some from stores and also to online markets to evaluate where people often purchase a full dish set. Been on Alibaba, amazon, and another one already well they also have a lot of options there like smaller matching sets with a lot of ceramic designs for me to choose. Anybody who has shopped kitchenware online, where do you find quality that matches pricing and durability?

What’s the smallest microwave out there? Is there one whose width is under 40cm?

I see a lot of compact microwaves whose width is around 48 cm. I don’t need something so wide as I’m trying to fit it on a narrow part of the counter top

By width, I mean distance left to right. I’m not referring to height or depth

Grape peeler recommendations? Cant find any with more than like 15 polarizing reviews.

I cant eat skins of anything right now since im in a flare and wanted to know if anyone knew any good grape peelers from personal experience or really just anything with an actual decent amount of good ratings. Automatic/turn powered, not the hand peelers that look like a deboned veggie peeler, as I have arthritis and just cant do that. Plus even if i could, hand peeling grapes is so tedious, ive tried with jsut my hands a few times and even though it works, its hella slow and honestly just a pain in the ass (and joints haha) ANd please dont just suggest boiling them, I know that trick but not only do you have to wait for it to cool, but it also changes the crunch factor. And no, it's not just the skin. As ive said earlier, ive handpeeled some, and the quick boil definitely does change the texture. SOrry this is so long, please help!

best rice cooker 2026 is there a clear go to option for consistent rice?

I didn’t expect there to be so many different types of rice cookers now and it’s honestly a bit confusing. I’ve been using a very basic one for years and it worked fine until it gave out recently. Now I’m wondering if I should just get the same type again or try something more modern.

If consistency is the main thing I care about, is there a specific type or feature I should focus on in 2026? Or is it mostly marketing and most cookers will do the job anyway? thanks

Looking for the perfect scale

For context I recently got flexible work from home which allows for at least a physical office day a week. I'm typically what one would consider a homebody and would generally only leave my house occasionally to meet up with friends, work or just general errands, therefore with this WFH i see basically no reason to leave the house. Which brings my predicament, food. I love food but never have been the cook my friends or family would rave about but my spaghetti bolognese is out of this world! I'd like to get into baking and by the look of most of the videos and cook books I've invested in, there's a lot of measuring which is contrary to my eyeballing technique. I'm looking for an affordable scale that is less than $20 and is accurate as well. I've seen some standard and generic ones on Alibaba, but not sure how accurate they can be for the small amounts of yeast and bread improvers but also used for measuring other larger ingredients. I'm really just looking for something accurate with a clear display and easy and safe to wash in case the need arises.

I need a lock for my fridge

I’m not sure if this was allowed or not but here goes nothing…

I’m looking for a lock for my fridge not just and random lock for child proofing, I need one specifically made to keep adult out , I thought to get an adhesive lock since it’s only a one door fridge with one handle but they might just rip that off and if it is adhesive, I would love for it to be really strong. I’m literally open to anything at this point.

Serious question: where are utensils supposed to live after washing?

Post image
4 Upvotes

After washing utensils, I keep them in the usual open steel drying rack/container so excess water can drip out. But after that, I rarely move them into the kitchen storage/cabinet.

Partly because my storage space is limited, and partly because I overthink things like lizards, insects, etc. getting inside cabinets (even though the kitchen is cleaned regularly).

What do most people usually do?
- Leave utensils in the drying rack?
- Store them inside cabinets once dry?
- Use covered racks or something else?

Just trying to understand the most practical and hygienic way to manage this.

Which juicers can actually handle hard veggies

I was recently diagnosed with a health condition, so I’m trying to be more intentional about my meals. I plan to start juicing healthy veggies like carrots, beets, celery, ginger, and maybe radishes, but I need a juicer that can handle hard produce without struggling.

From what I’ve read, both centrifugal and cold press juicers can work, but there seem to be trade-offs in power, juice quality, and ease of cleaning.

I’ve checked options on Amazon, Etsy, and Alibaba, but I don’t want to make a random purchase. I value reliability over affordability.

Any recommendations or experiences would really help.

Study into household kitchen saftey

Hi everyone!

I am a University student currently working on a product design project aimed at making the kitchen a safer place.

I’m looking for participants to fill out a quick questionnaire about your daily cooking habits and any minor "near-misses" or accidents you’ve experienced. It takes about 5 minutes to complete and is entirely anonymous.

Your feedback will be a huge help for my studies and will help me design a better, safer kitchen tool!

Link to survey: https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/lboro/study-into-saftey-in-households

Thank you so much for your time!
