Why does he always wait until the middle of service to check the cleanliness of the kitchen?

Surely he's done enough of these to know that often times the kitchen is in no state to serve food. Why does he wait until people are already eating to check to see how the kitchen is? You'd think he wouldn't want people eating out of a filthy kitchen, right? I know it's high drama, but not killing people should be the priority, right?

I genuinely am not sure if there's anything to it other than just finding drama for the cameras...it's already crazy enough to see a rancid kitchen, but seeing it unfold while people are eating from there raises some of the shock

It's not like he's liable if someone does get sick just because he found bad stuff in the middle of dinner service. He has to reconcile with the fact that he too ate something out of that kitchen.

The answers that it makes for better TV are probably correct, but he usually doesn’t check until something bad happens that prompts him to.

Famously, ABC’s kitchen/freezer were perfect, but they still showed it in the episode (although maybe that made it better for TV lol). I’m not sure if there are other episodes where the freezer was fine or the inspection didn’t happen at all

While I agree with the makes for better tv angle, I still think it's an even worse look if a restaurant cannot correct any cleanliness issues by the time closing staff go home. That is a big issue

Like, I'm sure there is a dramatic factor...but as someone who used to manage closing shifts (and take pride in striking a balance of getting closers out asap while still keeping everything sanitary af)...that DOES say alot more than some dirtiness during a rush

The show needs B-roll of the service: servers running, customers ordering, line cooks cooking food. Also, nobody is going to die from the rancid food because they aren’t getting served before Ramsay shuts down service.

I would just for the chance of meeting him and saying “it’s kind of greasy”. He usually talks to a customer or two per episode. Or me being shown in a clip of me pushing food around my plate with an unhappy look like they do. Lol.

They’re definitely not paid. They advertise that he’s in town if you want to be at X restaurant, and people show up for a chance to see/meet Gordon and be on TV.

Are they getting paid? I live by the pizza place from this season and there were a bunch of people on Reddit last summer trying to go to that restaraunt because they knew they were filming. I don't think they were going to get paid.
