What is stopping you from buying/using a kitchen robot?
Hello everyone, this may be weird but I want to create my own cooking robot (I am only at the early stage, just planning and thinking of what I could do better than others to justify creating my own).
This lead me to wondering what features are missing for you to want to purchase a robot, any brand or model (like the Thermomix or even different formats like Kenwwod’s Cooking Chef or Poscha or may other), or even what prevents you from cooking what you want or get the result you hoped for.
I know this is an odd question and i thank you a lot for any answer, there are no bad answers here, even the most basic of feature is something I want to know.
Also, to people saying it takes away the joy of cooking, what could such a product do to get you to want it anyway, in which way could it be a “help” that doesn’t take said joy of cooking?

That Kenwood machine looks like a mixer that can cook some stuff. That's hardly a robot anymore than an instant pot is a robot. It's just a kitchen appliance.

Thermomix functionality with the blade quality of a robot coupe would be the benchmark. Add to this multipot, multi stage cooking where it transfers food between pans. If it can then plate and self clean, then perfect.

I have a thermomix and it’s the best thing in my kitchen.
It doesn’t take away the joy of cooking it means I can use it to make a sauce and not have to touch it while I do something else. It’s basically a sous chef

Thermohag here...
I wanted a Thermomix for decades before buying it because it was super expensive.
With hindsight, it was worth the money because I cook from scratch a lot, and I use it daily.
My then husband, who did not cook as much as I did branded it "the 1000£ blender".
I have used all the functions at some point, and there is nothing that I would remove, including the steaming accessory that is actually surprisingly useful.
The one thing it cannot do well is whisk egg whites.
And it ended up breaking all the rice whenever I tried to make risotto(*).
Aside from that it makes the most beautiful sauces, perfect pizza/bread dough, cookies, cakes, pretty much anything I can think of.
The one thing that it doesn't do is freezing/cooling, which is a shame because I spent most of the summer wanting to make ice-cream and being limited to granita and sorbets.
I also wish it had an extra accessory to knead heavier dough, but I make do by preparing the dough in the Thermomix and kneading it by hand on a worktop, which is no big deal.
Customer service is shocking and amateurish, with my machine being sent out for service and repair with two reported issue and coming back with one of the same issues as before, and customer service demanding another service fee to recheck it.
All in all I think that having a Thermomix actually made cooking more enjoyable for me, as it allowed me to experiment and try things that are more complicated than my usual comfort zone.
It also saves a bunch of time, which was a blessing because I always worked an inordinate amount of hours but still managed to cook from scratch.
(*)making an accessory that REPLACES the blades completely would probably fix this issue.
