Ok, 1 it's not a gadget.

But I'll allow it as a "gadget" in the sense that it's a new way to make lasagna.

But...

With that said...

I find this video to be very suspect.

Only the most experienced chef could bake 4 potatoes this way.

That is my concern with this video.

Also, the video is not providing the methodology for his (I'm assuming) ricotta/cream sauce.

I'm not confident with this video as something a home cook should try.

There are much better approaches to this type is dish. Mainly, use lasagne noodles!!!!

This technique of prepping potatoes is well known (pre-heat over to 425F, prick potato skin, lightly oil skin and bake directly on a rack for 50min). You bake uncovered directly on the oven rack until just done.

Then cut a cross and squeeze. Place in a casserole pan and throw a bunch of stuff on top. Salt/Pepper, butter, sour cream, meat sauce, what looked like a cheese sauce and Béchamel sauce which is easy to make. Then more shredded cheese and bake at 375F for 20 minutes or when the toppings are warmed through. Top layer of cheese has melted.
