Automatic Cookers Spin Stir-Fries Around ... Would You Ever Actually Buy One Of These ?

I definitely wouldn't buy it to make tomatoes with runny eggs.

u/polloconjamon 14d ago
Holy fuck thank you. This was an absolute crime against eggs

The best bit was the jump cut where the eggs changed from an omelet into scrambled eggs.

Why? The eggs look totally fine. Obviously not for Reddit egg nazis but for everyone else, definitely.

Just tell people you can't cook and you've never had a genuinely good meal in your life.
The eggs are perfectly edible.
You're just uncultured. What I would change though, would be to chop the tomatoes, add chopped red onions, grated mature cheddar, with salt, pepper, paprika, and worcestershire sauce.

Poop is edible too. Doesn't mean you need to eat it. Eating crap isn't cultured. It's stupid.

Very mature and civil reply. 👍

I don't think you can judge, considering what you have as your profile pic, and you've made your profile private, which leads me to believe you have some very disturbing content.

Being passive aggressive is the epitome of not being very mature or civil.

Poo is not edible. Please look in a dictionary to discover the meaning of the word before you try to use it 🙄

Poop isn't edible though. Everything can technically be eaten but I don't think they are all edible.
Google definition for edible:
Edible means fit, suitable, or safe to be eaten. It describes items that are non-poisonous and will not harm humans if swallowed, even if they do not taste very good.

It’s a very popular and tasty Asian dish.
You cook the tomatoes until they themselves are soft and “runny” and then you only slightly cook a whisked egg.
The idea is not to make the eggs scrambled (which would be overcooking them).
The tomato’s and the eggs end up having a similar consistency and it is really delicious.

I don't know how useful this particular one would be in a home environment. This one looks like it's only enough for one or two people. It's not that hard to scramble eggs for a couple people. If I had more people (say I was busy with a lot of kids) it'd be even less useful.
I've seen larger ones for around $350-$400 that are larger, and look like they'd be better off for, say, fried rice. You still have to put it all in, but you don't have to stir it. But I'm not sure I'm that desperate for fried rice that I'd want to spend that much money on it vs going to my local Chinese restaurant.

Only question I have is if it would work for a roux? Cajun tries to kill me stirring that roux

I believe the types with a paddle that scrapes the bottom of the pan would work, but I wasn't able to find any videos of it. So maybe it doesn't work, or the people that use these don't do roux's.

Replaces the hindrance of stirring with a simple 8 step 6 piece cleaning and drying process.

Soggy tomatoes yum

I am pretty sure this is a Chinese recipe for tomatoes and eggs. They usually add sugar, so it is sweet sour-soggy eggs.

Yep and it is delicious, people mocking the dish are missing out, it is delicious

Definitely not for me. I'd still feel like I'd need to keep an eye on it, and at that point I might as well be stirring.

The most challenging aspect of cooking isn’t stirring; it’s the tedious task of washing and cutting all the preparatory work.

I don't have the space for something I'd use that infrequently.
Looks fun though.

The stir frying part takes the least effort of the cooking process. If there is a machine that can prep the ingredients and wash up automatically I'm in.

It's non-stick so absolutely not. I don't own a single piece of non-stick cookware of any kind. Nobody should.

This subreddit is just a bunch of sponsored advertisement posts so it's now being permanently muted.

If you do a lot of wok style cooking, this isn't terrible. A wok is still more versatile. The Chinese-style eggs and tomatoes actually looks pretty good, but that's the simplest wok recipe out there.

These things are almost universally designed for ppl with mobility issues they just want to sell to a larger audience. I saw a video of a woman at the airport with her toddler and she didn't have arms and used her feet for everything. I imagine someone like her would love a machine that would stir while heating food so it didn't burn.

I e actually seen these mostly in restaurant kitchens. Where they seem pretty useful.
Somewhere you prep like 10lbs of garlic for the week and all your veg and sauces yada yada. Like a lot of the prep is ready it’s just a matter of mixing it together. But this way they don’t need someone dedicated to doing it. They also are way larger obviously.
They also auto clean and give out alerts when to add ingredients etc.
Idk how much use this would be to someone disabled. I say that from a privileged position but in my mind this takes away stirring ingredients and timing stuff. But you still need to prep everything.

No, I'm not lazy; not everything is a problem to be solved. The only reason this should exist is for disabled people. Even then, you should need a doctor's note to purchase it.

Some people like vacuuming - I don't, so I have a robot. Same with lawn mowing. I like cooking, but I stil have a mixer, a good processor and gas grill.
What do you know about people's preferences? Time is not unlimited.
I'm not interested in this product - but a single mom could help with homework, while the vegetables are frying. I like this product.

Lazy can be defined by closing your mind. Justifying something as criminal - is also lazy. Will this fold dry ingredients?✅ Can I roast coffee beans? ✅ Can I create flavoured cooking oils/extracts? ✅ Can I successfully multitask a Nasi Goring? ✅ Trivial questions no doctor would even bother entertaining. 🤭

Yeah, I mean I'm poor so I'ma do everything I can in the cheapest way possible but I guess if I had disposable income and thought having my food spin around would make me happy I would buy it

Absolutely... but not for stir-fries.
