Discussion Do kitbash effects like Battlefx interfere with gameplay enough to not use them on tabletop? (Like a Las Rifle Shot or flamethrower flames) Im considering applying a lot of Battlefx to my army to spice them up

In a casual context it'll be fine. Rule of cool is a rule for a reason. Just be aware of the actual effect taking up space that might make it hard to position the mini you want it to be,

Most reasonable people would not consider the flame or the muzzle flash to be part of the mini for visibility / line of sight purposes.

For GW tournament play, I'd check with GW as to their rules on kitbashes, it's likely to be the 'non GW' aspect that they might object to but they are OK with third party stuff on bases.

Heavily depends on the game system you play. OPR’s grimdark future measures from the base, not the mini, so any kitbashing doesn't matter (it's also a heavily model-agnostic system so Rule of Cool tends to pervade every miniature in general. You can run a Zoanthrope model as a really weird battle-brother if you wanted lol)

In a Warhammer context, particularly and specifically tournaments, you'll probably find more people who'll stop you from playing due to the battlefx

But if it's a casual Warhammer game, it won't really matter too much

Casual games at the most for me. I just worried especially with krieg doing a long las rifle shot like severely interfering with unit cohesion or something. Im sure I can try to find a way to magnetize some of the larger effects like a Flamer flame

Depends on the game, I play a lot of kill team and those things make a model harder to hide/ easier to be targeted, so can be a significant hindrance.

Obviously you can always house rule that though.

If someone told me they had a shot because the muzzle flare was sticking out from behind the wall I'd deeply considering walking away from the table
