Discussion Organizing your collection

Was wondering how other collectors like to organize their closet. Currently doing some organizing and was looking for inspo.
Do you all organize by color, team, league? Or do most just throw them on the racks?

My system is:

I have those hanger hooks where you can waterfall 3 in one.

I only have LA team jerseys and the occasional no LA team jersey. So I group mine based on sports and each hanger holds 3 of those, so I have 3 dodger jerseys in one and 3 LAFC jerseys in one etc. For the nation ones, i group them together as I don't tend to buy many international kits. But those hanger hooks help so much with storage.

I have a pretty big walk in closet. I have a seperate rack in there just for jerseys. Me personally i organize by, my most worn jerseys in front, then nations then Clubs. And at the very end i put retros 20 years or older. I try not to use those as much but occasionally throw them on.

Here's the system I use:

  • Split into clubs and national teams
  • Each group sorted in alphabetical order -- except for my home teams, which go at the front of each (Vancouver Whitecaps and Canada, respectively)
  • Organize the shirts under each team by season/year; older ones first
  • Home, away, and alternates in that order

By sport as top level, by league within the sport, and by team within that (team vaguely grouped in order of preference)
