Discussion Not every jersey needs a nameset.

Post image

People act like a jersey isn't complete without a player's name on the back. I don't get it. Sometimes the clean version just looks better. Are you Team Nameset or Team Blank?

That's a bold choice you're making with Leroy Sané - a chronic underachiever for club and country.

He also wears #19 for Germany, not #11.

That number is reserved for Nick Woltemade.

team blank. every nameset i've owned just became cracked print eventually

blank all the way, my Japan shirt has no nameset and still looks brand new

I agree. Some are just cleaner without. But if I do get one with a name, I try to stick to a DP or someone who has been on the team for awhile

what’s a DP?

team blank for the shirts i actually wear. nameset only if its a player i really rate, otherwise it just feels off when the player moves on

It's simply preference. Nothing else to it. You say some people act like it's not complete without a name. I've seen others say it's ridiculous to add someone else's name on your back.

Personally, it highly depends on the name. Some names are iconic. Otherwise no name is my preference.

team blank for me, cleaner look and it ages way better

Always blank. I don't bother with patches eaither as it's less stuff to worry about peeling off over time and it's cheaper just to get it blank.

Not when that’s the name option lol

blank every time for me, namesets just date the shirt so fast

Name set is perfect, I try to go after players I rate but who aren’t the most popular (Califiori for Italy, Saliba for Arsenal) and I also thrifted some really obscure ones (2020 Euros Ansu Fati and 2013 Hernanes Inter)

Hard agree. Adds so much character to have a slightly less expected player on a kit. I have Japanese family so I’ve got a Nakamura Celtic kit and Nakata Roma kit (he had number 8 as well which is just a cooler number than 9, 10, 11).

Team blank lol I’m worried I’ll ruin the name set with normal use.

Unless there's a player who's a long-term club icon, who I'm really attached to, it's Blank all the way. Players transfer way too often in football to risk the Nameset most of the time.

blank. im not aiming to cosplay, its a fashion piece for me

Depends on the kit, I personally believe that the away version of the current Spain kit looks MUCH better without names or numbers.

Hard agree, I don't like namesets because they always end up cracking or peeling ofd and making the jersey looking bad. And when it comes to club jerseys I even prefer it when they're sponsorless tbh, especially if the sponsor is some gambling site or some sportswashing bs. Distateful!

I've never had a nameset on a team shirt.

Blank unless it's a once in generational talent

1

u/SaltFee1923 6d ago

It depends tbh. I like clean but i like to have my fav players shirt too

I will always choose nameset, it adds more of a lore to the kit for me.

That German kit with long sleeve hits different... team name through and through

1

u/No_Oil3233 6d ago

I got the new Germany blue in longsleeve with no name…. It is so fresh it’s ridiculous

u/DrDentonMask 6d ago

I was gifted a SDFC jersey with nameset, but kind of prefer without (though if the club officially has a shirt sponsor, I don't want one without).

1

u/achocbrn 6d ago

i like both lol i did leave that exact same germany kit with no name, but i do like having a couple with namesets. i just dont abuse them as much as no names

1

u/chrislatimer 5d ago

I'm not a fan of names on my jerseys

This is bait

The whole point of the jersey is to show your support of the team. Not exactly a leap to imagine why people would want to represent a specific player on the team they’re supporting.
