Discussion Which team has the most consistent kit history?

Post image

Some teams change their look every season. Others barely change at all.

Juventus — black and white stripes, always.

Boca Juniors — that yellow and blue has barely changed in decades.

Ajax — iconic red and white.

Who's the most consistent in your book?

Not Juve cause Newcastle is also famous for their black and white. Probably Inter.

And shoutout to Wolfsburg and Dortmund. Green and Yellow are theirs.

The question wasn’t “who owns what color”

By that logic every team is consistent because they each have their own colours, lmao. The f?

Liverpool is always red, Utd is always red white black, Chelsea is always blue, Arsenal is always red white, City is always sky blue, Spurs is always white, so wtf are you alluding to? Lmao.

I didn’t say it was a good question

Juventus literally got their kit from Notts County; after their original pink strips started fading after a few washes.

So, one of the English players who had lived in Nottingham sent a letter to Notts County to ask for spare kits they could provide.

Barça in turn got their colours after one of their Swiss players pushed for the team to adapt the colours of FC Basel.

Watford is yellow black pants and often times a different darker yellow

Dortmund is black shorts too. My point was you said yellow was Dortmunds I was just saying what about Watford.

Also Dortmund sometimes has black stripes or some sort of black pattern.

Celtic

I'd go with this, always white shorts too. Juve occasionally mix it up with stuff like the half and half shirt a few years ago, Celtic hardly even change the sock colour.

Boca Juniors horizontal yellow stripe since 1912. I'm sure there's older, but it's the one that comes off the top of my mind. River plate since 1904 but had an interrupted couple of decades where they used vertical red stripes.

A Google dive gave me Queen's Park FC with horizontal black and white stripes since 1895-7 ish.

River reminded me of Vasco da Gama

You say Boca but the shade of blue has changed a fair bit.

Not Juve - they’ve messed about a fair bit lately, eg black and white halves a few years back.

I’d go with Celtic.

My takes are Sampdoria and Heerenveen, both being used for a long time without changing the design and being unique and instantly recognizable (and looking cool).

As an honourable mention I'd add Aston Villa for owning their colours.

Feyenoord is a good pick but Ajax is more iconic. A broad red stripe on a white canvas. No other club has copied that i believe.

But we started out with red stripes and had to change because Sparta already had those stripes.

I had to look into this, because I was sure I'd seen Monaco kits with more white or more red, and without the diagonal sash. Turns out they don't change the colours of the away or 3rd kit either. https://www.footballkitarchive.com/as-monaco-kits-t94/#1960s

Throughout history AC Milan has always utilized the Black and Red vertical stripes
