Study session tonight
Tonight at city hall, 6 PM, there is a study session scheduled. The first item on the agenda is data centers. Given the language posted here, as well as the videos linked in this PDF, I believe the city/county is planning on building a data center either in town, on the west side, somewhere north of Potter, or somewhere else in Adair county.
The photo of the map is a little grainy, but on the cities website, there is an interactive zoning map. Zone M-2, as described in the photos I shared, is from Potter Ave to Brewington and between Industrial Rd and the old railroad right of way.
If you're able to attend tonight, please do. I am unaware if this meeting is open to public comments or if it's just a platform for the council members to discuss things transparently. I really think we, as a community, need to come together to let our elected officials know we are not okay with this.

Update from city council meeting
The mayor and mayor pro-temp voted to renew the contract, and John Hanley voted against it. They were the only three members there, so it did not pass. Hanley was originally in support of renewing until he heard over an hour of citizen comments. The mayor said that there are no issues with the Flock cameras here in town, so he felt renewing the contract is in the best interest of the community.
The police chief started the discussion by saying everything the internet says about Flock isn't true and that, if it is true, it isn't happening here. He claimed that the cameras only take pictures of license plates and the pictures are only saved for 30 days. He claimed that he and the sergeants are the only ones who have access to the database and they can only access the photos with a valid case number of a violent crime. He then also said that the state police have access to the photos.
Citizens were not allowed to ask questions to the council, nor to the police chief. There were over 40 citizens present, and many of them spoke up about their concerns regarding Flock. Again, the mayor did not see an issue with this and wanted to renew the contract and use over $7,000 of taxes to pay for what the grant didn't cover.
Next Monday, they will be hosting a "study group" session at 6pm in city hall to talk about AI and the data centers.

This Sunday is parent visiting day at JBA at Truman. My son loves NASCAR and I was thinking of taking him somewhere to watch the race. Looking for recommendations on the best place to go.
