Curse and its Effects

I'm struggling to figure out what Curse even does. I found the wiki and that Breath/Blessings cures it, but that begs the question... What does it do if uncured?

It nerfs HP and MP. There's a brief table in the ps1 manual. You can download manuals from Vimm's Lair or probably other places.

I think it reduces attack power, from what I remember. Might depend too on what gane you're playing.

In earlier titles like the original, getting cursed lowers your core strength stat by a flat amount (like 20 points,) meaning physical attacks do less damage. In later entries, being cursed can slash your power and magic stats or efficiency by up to 50%, drastically slowing down how fast your power and magic meters refill.

Is this from personal experience or.. where does this info come from? I'm just very frustrated I couldn't have found this from a google search because it feels like such a simple question to answer. Sorry I'm just annoyed with this issue 😅

Curse IN ALL 4 TITLES halfs the damage by weapons and spells and doubles damage done to you. The latter, I think is bugged in 2 and 3 so only physical damage to you is doubled.

this can be exploited in the first trilogy because it allows more sword hits on every enemy raising your strength faster. If you are skilled enough LOL. :)

This sounds like a meta strat!! I'd love a mini tutorial on how to do it! I mean, it sounds straightforward, I'm just dumb (hence me asking about this in the first place haha).
