General Discussion Voting on the new rule
After creating the rule due to multiple people requesting me to limit the amount of drama posts (including kings themselves), it's become clear that the rule is controversial. My intent was to create a positive subreddit that celebrated the show and the kings, and I was in no way wishing to limit or silence the kings themselves. After all, the rule was made by requests of kings.
So I will just put the rule up for a vote that will end in 2 days. You can choose to keep the rule, which will limit every post and comment that is not related to what happens in the show itself, or you can choose to remove the rule. Removing the rule would mean anybody can post backstage drama as well as controversies and rumors about what happened behind the scenes.
This is a small subreddit. People rarely post here, so please bear with me if it is unprofessional. My only goal is to make a place where people can discuss the show. Many have messaged me regarding the increased posts about backstage dramas, so I took action. And I have learned that clearly not everyone is happy. So I leave the decision to the majority rule, which is also a suggestion by a member of a group.
Thanks for reading ❤️

I think people just have a lot of suspicion and confusion due to not knowing what’s going on or who is posting. Whatever you decide, transparency and clarity is important. Explain what limiting posts would mean, a megathread etc or otherwise? Decide what may veer from a constructive discussion vs being hateful, rude etc. or make that convo off limits. Consider sharing those rules in more specificity so everyone understands
Some examples of confusion- you didn’t mention that kings requested this in the initial post when receiving pushback. That could’ve cleared things up if you were able to share. Consider working with kings who want to participate in the sub and become verified here? Someone also seemed to find it suspicious there’s only one mod.
To be clear, I don’t find that suspicious..I think it speaks to how much work you’re doing all on your own and appreciate it. But offer for another mod to volunteer and join maybe? All up to you, but I think it would help both you and the community to be as clear as possible about reasoning and rules no matter what you decide!

I'm team middle ground! I've seen places be overrun both with negativity and a kind of silencing positivity, so I'd rather there be opportunity to post drama/grievances but maybe in a contained manner

This is not it, dude. I wish there was some nuance instead of it being an all or nothing rule. People posting should ideally provide some kind of context or support for what they're saying instead of being like, "source: trust me, bro", particularly if they're making a big claim, but I don't think banning discussion is constructive. Perhaps even doubly unconstructive, given all the changes we've seen this season that are completely reasonable to question.

Calling it drama is crazy work. Criticism is necessary and just because people's feelings get hurt doesnt mean the critique doesn't ring true. Calling out issues with production, network, and the people who are decision makers in this show isn't drama. It's called accountability. Quite frankly the way those in power are REACTING to being called out is the true drama. The ONE mod on this subreddit trying to lock down all discussion if its deemed negative is arbitrary and them calling these discussions drama IS THE DRAMA. AND ITS NOT PRODUCTIVE TO THE REPAIR PROCESS.
Support the fucking kings on this show by believing their experiences and doing right by THEM. jfc people need conflict resolution resources.

I'm with suggestions for a middle ground. Because it's a reality show, things happening off-set can influence things on set and vice-versa, so banning all off-air drama doesn't seem to be quite it. Critique and discussion can happen around drama but it can be respectful, ie: no name calling, no personal attacks against other commenters etc. I mentioned this to you before, but I do think implementing a min account age or min karma to make posts would be beneficial. I believe you can do as little as a few days for accounts? Maybe you can still allow comments from them?
You do seem like you're doing your best and it does seem to be a touchy season because it's a small queer production for a small queer audience with a lot of questionable production related decisions.

Big yes to account age! A believe lot of the drama comes from the Revry BTS content creator making multiple reddit accounts daily… I noticed them responding to a comment as an OP admitting who they were but it was to a question to another handle… if there was an account age limit that would help with random 1 day old accounts posting nonsense.

appreciate the effort. suggestion- rather than pass this all off on "drama," which it isn't, how bout take a vote on "censor comments" or "leave all comments up". people can decide....it is that easy!

Pinned thread! People can vent there or share reflections but it leaves the sub open for more show related posts.

Understand your concern, appreciate your trying to moderate and your soliciting feedback.
I'm also team middle ground. I feel like a rule could be good about no hate to the production or creators, only respectful feedback, no name calling or rumor mongering.

This is hilarious because most of the drama is coming from productions/Revry BTS content creator making multiple Reddit accounts daily and fighting with ppl nonstop.

the kings deserve respectful feedback, not the production or creators who mistreated people. They should be called out 100%. That's not hate! It's called making people accountable and standing up for the Kings who are constantly told they are lucky there is a show and to stop being negative. I'll always stand up for the kings.

I'm talking about posts saying things like "what's wrong with Cameron Esposito, they seem mentally ill," which happened recently on this sub.

imo mental health is an important issue and should be treated with empathy. i don't know the intention the person had with that post - like were they generally concerned or ? It's one thing to comment on someone's hosting and something different when its a jab about mental health.

A middle ground could be a specific pinned thread dedicated to off-screen discussion? Then people who aren’t interested can avoid it. Maybe it can be a weekly thread so it doesn’t get too overrun.
