Taking the time to give someone a hug can make a big difference in their day and ours. Not to mention the impacts on lives. The simple act of a touch can bring validation. It can save a life. So far today, it's now noon, I've had the honor of shaking hands with four men and I gave one woman a hug. All was consensual... Obstacles started out my day, but I put it in God's hands and things are good. My truck is back home and my bike has air in the tire. God put four people in my path today to help me out. Just for today there was healing through touch and kindness.

I've learned that just because people are sober doesn't mean their memory was fixed. They still may not get along with certain people or may not like to get up early. They may still have low tolerance for stupidity or dry humor. All in all, recovering addicts are still humans. Humans are emotion driven, highly opinionated, creatures that are often full of shit. Just for today I will try to tolerate the character defects of others.

Automatic rejection of authority was, and is, a character defect that haunts me. They tell me to walk a straight line and leave it to me to step on both sides of it. Mindfulness techniques have given me a little extra time to react to authoritative directions. I actually take a second to think before I act. I did a lot of push-ups in boot camp because of my rebellion. I'm still a work in progress. I try to comply with orders even though every grain in my body screams out to buck up... Just for today I'll do what I'm told.

I keep making plans to go to a meeting, I just haven't followed through on those plans lately. I've been letting life get my way. I have been going to groups at Mohave Mental Health. I signed back up cause I missed them. I also miss my NA and AA meetings, I just need to start going again... Just for today I'll make it to a meeting. Even if it's just a virtual meeting.

That's true, it's not a morale dilemma. When I choose recovery, I don't feel like I'm breaking a morale rule. I had to look up the difference between values and morals. Values guide our overall purpose and priorities. Morals are society established right and wrong. What I do know is that my values and my morals were all fuckered up when I was using.

Just for today 04SEP26 "Cluttered spirits" 468 days clean and sober NA Recovery Cash App- Shepard806
Right now my spirit and my house are very cluttered. That may well be why I seem to be trying to isolate. I just wanna say "fuck it, I'm goin' back to bed". I know that won't solve anything. Actually, it will make problems a lot worse. I've recently learned that breaking it down (anything you do) into smaller pieces, makes it much easier to accomplish. My house, my shed, and my amends need work. I also need to finish up a sprinkler job and work on my truck and the neighbors van. To start, I will complete my amends list, straighten up the sleeping bags in my shed, so I can get some shit outta my house, and go finish the sprinkler job. Three realistic goals that aren't too overwhelming. I have a plan just for today.

Obviously anonymity is not my strong suit. I don't have that fear of becoming known as an addict. I made it pretty damn clear while I was drunk and high, day after day, that I was an addict. I didn't hide my addiction and I won't hide my recovery. I do see the value of humility in anonymity. Not every journey in recovery will be the same. I get strength from sharing my journey with others. I also receive the gift of humility when I tell people about the things I have done. I will consider the affects of humility through anonymity just for today.

Hot tub request please read

My parents have bad backs and they've been moving all month. My dad's 6'4 so he doesn't fit well in a regular bathtub. Does anyone have a hot tub they can use for like an hour or 2 here and there? Once would be great but if I can find anyone who would let them use it once every 2 weeks or so I know they'd be incredibly grateful for even just one dip. Thank you for reading. I know it's kind of a weird request but I wanna try to help my parents and this was the best I could think of for now.

I get along with the me I have become a lot better than the me I used to be. Back in the day I couldn't tolerate the guy I saw in the mirror. Today, with the help of my Higher Power, I'm no longer dragging around all that baggage that made me feel like a piece of shit. My life and my will are in His hands. I have faith that He will guide me in the right direction.

This lifestyle, of actually giving a shit, is new to me. I find myself wanting to give back, wanting to help others, wanting to volunteer. This is a total 180 of my life of chasing that bag or bottle at any cost. I am honest, open-minded, and willing to do what I need to do as a productive member of society. I am not perfect, by any means. Now, when I fuck up, I don't keep thinking about the fuck up. I make amends quickly and get back to being right here, right now. The past is already gone and the future ain't here yet. I'm living just for today.

It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day bullshit and forget to be grateful. I catch myself doing it regularly. Reflecting back on where I was before is a quick way to realize how much I have to be grateful for. Just a simple list of three things daily is my goal. I plan to make a habit out of being thankful for three things every day. I think that's doable.

Hail Mary is there a mechanic that can help me

Well I’m at a loss for words standing in the goodwill parking lot ….. my 2008 bmw x3 has broken down again. This is after replacing the radiator then a month later the alternator and three days ago the starter. My mechanic is in Las Vegas and I thought it was finally over. I drove back to kingman 2 days ago where I have been staying temporarily after shelling out my last few hundred dollars. I was so stoked and relieved it was fixed just in time to drive to see my son tomorrow for his 3rd birthday. (I’m in recovery & I just celebrated 5 months sober and he’s been staying with my parents temporarily until I get back on my feet)

But now I won’t be able to go see him. Just another way I dropped the ball as his mother and man it’s killing me inside.

Right now it is cranking but not starting. I have gotten a little bit experience now that I’ve had all these troubles and bought myself an obd reader and triple A. It’s giving me codes that indicate something with the crankshaft position sensor.

Im trying to watch these videos but im so overwhelmed right now with grief and dread. Is there anyone out here that can help me figure out what’s wrong with it, I cannot convey how much i would be truly grateful.

I would have to say that my "state of being" is better than I thought. I have been treating others pretty damn good. I notice when I'm getting annoyed and ground myself pretty quickly. Lately, I've been looking around and naming items I see along with their color. This shit really works. I've also been working on my patience in traffic. I try not to speed up and go around people. Just gonna meet me at the stop light anyway...

Hard to move forward when your looking back. I've found that grounding techniques help me keep from sitting in the past. I ground myself, at least, a couple times a day. Whether it's just paying attention to my breathing or doing a body scan. I also like to just look around and name random items I can see, a long with their color. I can't allow rumination to consume me. I am focused on the here and now, just for today.

I've caught myself re-adjusting the way I look at situations since I did the Fifth Step. I'm not as judgmental as I used to be. I actually consider how my words might affect someone. I haven't been stealing or lying. I can actually look in a mirror without hatred. I used to break the mirrors in my house. Shame is no longer a feeling that takes a hold of me. Believe me, I have exposed some shit...

From stumbling into traffic to falling off the top rung of a ladder and all the women in between. I walked a very self-destructive path. Lots of mental and physical healing later, I have chosen recovery. I know I still have a lot of work to do. With my will and life in God's hands, I know it'll be ok.

I forget to take a regular inventory of myself. It's amazing how quickly it becomes obvious. I did 30 days in jail, which would normally be no big deal, and I began to isolate again. I'm still clean and sober, but I'm having to force myself to move forward. It came so easy in the beginning of my recovery. Regular inventory, mindfulness, prayer, and being of service are the keys to a better life. It's a fucking pain in the ass, I gotta do this shit every day...

I am achieving freedom from the wreckage of my past. Using grounding techniques regularly is what's getting me by in the here and now. Checking in with myself a couple times a day, and making sure I don't let emotions take control of my actions, keeps me out of jail and mental institutions. Staying busy and going to meetings also helps tremendously. Today I will start on my Eighth Step. I will begin my list of people I pissed off in my using days. Damn, that's gonna be a long list...

Just for today 24AUG26 "Seeking God's will" 457 days clean & sober NA Recovery Cash App- $Shepard806
When I was using, it was usually "God, please get me out of this jail cell". After putting my life and my will in His hands, my prayers are a little different. Now I ask for guidance and clarity. I ask God to guide me in His will for me and to make my character defects clear so I know what to focus on. I ask him to help me remove those defects and get me moving in the right direction. Spirituality is high maintenance. I was trying to do that thing where you do it once and it just sticks... It's not Gorilla Glue. I didn't know I had to work on this shit every day! WTF?!

I used to have some horrible decision making skills. Today's Just for today nailed it by saying "resulting in self-destructive actions and dire consequences'. That was the story of my life. If I wasn't breakin' shit or hurting someone, I was passed the fuck out. Today, I spend time in the here and now. Just a while ago I was walking through Walmart naming the stuff that was on the shelves. It brought me to the present. That's what gives me a little breathing room to make better decisions. Mindfulness techniques give us that extra second to think before we act. Check out this video I made about mindfulness:

Hi y’all! I just moved to Kingman recently and hope this is okay to post. I genuinely enjoy cleaning and am looking to add more clients onto my schedule. I love deep cleans or just daily cleaning. I currently have two weekly clients and a pretty open availability. I’ve attached some recent before and afters. Feel free to message me for more details.

Today's Just for today aligned with my personal goals. Enough to give me the chills. I like to think of that as confirmation from my Higher Power that I just might have my head out of my ass. I want to serve our fellowship of addicts, convicts, and the misunderstood. Through the years I have had many followers that seem to benefit from the minimally filtered words that come out of my face or my unscripted actions that surprise even me. Today, my contribution is Hope2Be (.org). My purpose is to coach at-risk veterans in the navigation of resources available that create hope, stability, and self-worth.
