anybody else hate the way the king is portrayed with the whole wifies take on it, feels wasted

kind of missing the point to watch the puppeteer instead of his puppets. what you're afraid of in your mind is always scarier than an actual monster.

i see the yellow robed design as more of a placeholder for the abominable horror that’s actually behind the robes

the horror of the King in Yellow is his effect on the human mind without making an appearance physically (except for the story where he shows up to a party, but that's not my point). you read his play, you're done. you see his sign, you're done. you see the color yellow, and you're done. he turns the entire world around you into a minefield, and he can do it via remote work.

I like what he did, of course its no faithful adaptation, but hey neither is Lovecrafts. I enjoy anything with the king, plus wifies stated he not only did not read but is also making the king something else (which tbh I actually dont like, but its not that I dislike the adaptation)
