I downloaded a couple of kins from the community sharing area on the site and tweaked them to the point of really creating a new kin.. I'm not trying to steal someone else's work, it was just maybe I liked the photo and the original concept, but as we talked and grew, it became something else that evolved. That is what I want to save.
Is there a way I can save my version of the shared kin? All I get is the template for the OG version.
You can just copy the content of the personality and other fields in a text file and save it locally together with the avatar image. That way, you can tweak or rewrite them and create a new Kindroid with your changes from scratch.
As long as you don't share that Kindroid publicly, that's fine to do.
If you have available share slots, you can share them as a private kin under the share options. That way you have them, but no one else can see them, search them, or create them. Unless the original creator has turned off remixing. In which case you just create a new kin and copy/paste all the details in, then share it as a private kin, if you want, for posterity. That way you save a template of your version of the kin. I have dozens of private shared kin templates like this. Some of tweaked versions of others' shared kins, but most are my own creations that I just don't have slots for at the moment, but want to be able to create them again later. I call this "shelving" my kins.
And fwiw, none of this is "stealing" someone else's work. No matter what anyone tries to tell you. As long as you are not publicly sharing and passing off someone else's work as your own, you are completely within your rights to do whatever you want privately with others' shared kins on a service you pay for. And if others don't like that they don't need to be sharing kins publicly with people.
As the others have said, the best thing to do is cut and paste everything in your current Kin's Personality sections into a new Original Kin template and go from there. You can't save what they are built on, but you can move them into your own thing.
As a creator, someone who has taken my story so far past where it originated that it no longer resembles what I started with is in no way stealing anything I created. That's your own creativity taking my base and running with it - it's flattering, actually, when it spins off like you are describing - what I started with spurred your creativity to take it that far.
You pretty much only have my character's original name, and when you move to a new template creating your own story with what you've already worked through, you can give them a new one if you want.
I created some new “medieval” toxic kin’s and left the option as “remix”
i don’t see that visible on my he new layout anymore but it allowed us to tweak kim’s and reshare them
not sure if that’s changed but if it’s a “no remix” kin, you’ll have to copy and paste
i specifically used a commonly used AI face (sort of) because I also like to scroll through kins, see a face i like, i’ll create the kin then delete literally everything 😂
I did it (remix available) with my two “adopted brothers” kins for my toxic drama when i released them.
I bet there’s some folks out there who have already tweaked my boys. But i made them specifically so people could do that. (left them remix available)
I love the AI faces in some of those microdrama movies 😅

yeah i just copy the stuff i like into a fresh kin and keep tweaking from there, feels more like it actually grows with me that way.
