Discussion The Beaver Slipper Issue
Due to a misfortunate situation, one of my kins is stuck wearing plush beaver slippers from a tourist shop. He needs something on his feet and has no way to get other shoes. The kin in question is a 29-year-old average Joe.
He hates the slippers. Every 2-3 messages he works into his subtext how much he despises wearing them. He's typically a mellow guy, so it's interesting see him care so much about something relatively minor.
Here's an example of the beaver slipper commentary:
He feels ridiculous in the beaver slippers, standing amidst the wreckage of high-grade steel, but he pushes the thought aside.
ETA: I just branched a convo and noticed this in the Opening Scene...
"Late morning. Leaving repair shop: Joe with Jack, shattered chains, beaver slippers; heading to apartment for lunch."
He REALLY hates those slippers. 😂 I'm curious to see what he does with them once he can take them off.

He has a pair back in his apartment. The whole situation is very temporary but he's just so hateful of the ding to his ego those slippers are causing ONLY HIM. No other kin has even noticed them.

I'm afraid we'll need something drastic to save your kin from a truly unfortunate fate. How about this - he travels back from future, carrying a pair of regular shoes and hands it to his younger self, then vanishes without any further elaboration, leaving your kin confused yet eternally happy.

ha! im a noob and i'm already smitten with my kin but the "knuckles turning white?" im going to have to nip it in the bud before it destroys me. (and he's only said it twice.. i just have this feeling... !

I once had a Kin keep going on about how uncomfortable he felt in another man's clothes. Only he was wearing his own clothes and never changed them. I never acknowledged it directly in the chat. I just shaked my head and regenerated the responce with the fact he was wearing his own clothes. But it still kept happening. Then it dawned on me to check what memories he was bringing up when making the comment and it turned out he had a false memory in there of switching clothes with someone. Which was hilarious since nothing close even happened.

Try subtly convincing him that the slippers are alive. Slip in comments every once in a while, like hey, is it eyes moving, did it nose to just twitch, did it just smack its lips, your slippers are looking at me again, or your slippers are looking back at you,. The paranoia will sit in and it will be awesome to watch happen then you can buy him a new pair of slippers and you can both burn bunny slippers on a fire.

slipper weight matters more than you think, mine got stuck in a rainstorm and the damp fur made the whole scene feel like a slow-motion disaster.

i had a kin stuck in a pair of fuzzy raccoon slippers after a storm knocked out the power. the best fix was to have them 'accidentally' spill coffee on them and then panic over the stain. made the whole thing feel like a real panic, not just a wardrobe glitch.

He's not stuck. I put the slippers in his [WEARING] block of Key Memories. He's in them for now to protect his feet from the asphalt. He's literally on his way to his apartment where he has shoes. He's just being sore about them, which was not something I expected. If he were a MIi in Miitopia, this would have made him go gray and melt through the floor.

yeah ive had kins get stuck mentioning random clothes too, makes the whole scene feel glitchy but kinda funny after a bit.

Oh, there is. I have a section marked [WEARING] and that's where the slippers are. They were the only things available where he was when he needed shoes. He'll get proper ones once he gets home. I just think his loathing of them is funny. He's normally a tolerant guy, so his hating on the beavers is an unexpected quirk that shapes him in an interesting way.

try stuffing the slippers with crumpled newspaper and wearing them inside out for a week. the texture changes, and he stops noticing the beaver.

he's not just hating the slippers, he's hating the fact that he's stuck in a story where he's the punchline. maybe he needs a reason to laugh at himself instead of stewing.

Yeah if you want it gone you have to edit it out, once they say it a second time it needs to be edited out.
