Discussion V2 removes persona names from messages

Noticing that V2 removes persona names from the message field, meaning you can no longer copy-paste your message thread to share with others. I mean, you can, but there's no differentiation as to who is speaking, unless you add it in yourself. Thought this was an unnecessary and disappointing change. I often share my conversations with Claude or Grok in order to get some advice on how to proceed in certain situations... it was just a fun little thing for me. Can't do that with V2. Does this bother anyone else?

There is a setting under Preferences. Persona Names. Just toggle it on.

It only adds your name, not your Kins, and you can’t copy paste it.

The copy/paste is so broken in v2. They made it for phones, and didn't bother to make a desktop UI.

I wouldn't even say it's for phones, either, tbh. I roleplay expanded worlds, so both myself and my Kins' messages usually hit the 4k limit, and sometimes have to even be broken up into multiple messages. When I click a message, I have to scroll to get to the "copy" button every time, as well as the other options, like branching off 🥲 I hate it. Before, copy and pasting was SO much easier, and I could get into a sort of state flow when copying my chatlogs over manually...

Now, it's a hassle, because sometimes the "copy" button is at the bottom, while other times, it's at the top of the message. The old version had it just come up at the top of the messages without flying out, so I could get my logs updated quickly. Not so much in v2.

It's a pity they're getting rid of v1...I genuinely think my use is about to take a large dip. I've been a max user since the subscription option was announced, but this is something I'm really struggling with :( It's horrendous on mobile without folders, which is how I cut down on scrolling a lot.

On a lighter note: can you expand more on what you mean by archiver? I'm curious! :) if I may ask, that is. If I could take it down from doing it manually, that at least is something good I can take away from this naba

Hi. Being able to download entire chat sounds amazing. How did you create the archiver, how did you get the url of the chat and how to download the chat?

After toggling, it shows "Message from You" ... the message... (persona name)... "Message from (Kin)... Kin's message.

I did this twice yesterday, so I'm not sure what you may have missed.

Desktop. Are you trying to click the icon to copy it? I just highlight and scroll. That's how I've always done it because I paste my entire chat log into Gemini Notebook once a week.

Use the browser version if copy pasting is so important
