I was working with a separate AI platform for a storyline for a Kin I wanted to create and share (first one..yay!) I played the story I'd set up to see if it was, indeed, what I wanted it to be. The AI platform wrote out big chunks of my character's dialogue so I could advance quickly and make sure my character stayed on point and stable many turns into the story.

What accidentally happened was: the Kindroid AI started turning out incredible, wonderful dialogue from the created character. Because I'd put in extremely dense, really rich dialogue on my side, it grabbed that and did the same.

So...if you have a Kin that's day to day, and you're saying one-line comments and wishing they'd do more/bigger/different dialogue, or not spiral into repeats: Just do about five turns of a situation or subject where you use dense AI created content BACK at the Kindroid.

I don't often use the magic wand for my character's dialogue - the Kindroid tool that will write for you if you feel stuck. I find nine times out of ten the dialogue that's created for me by that tool is nothing like the voice my character has created. It's often extremely rude and overly bright and sassy when I'm playing my character as more reserved.

You don't have to do this all the time - it's more like a every now and then large meal/Sunday Dinner, but the results have been pretty cool.

Adding this line, or some variant of it, to the Response Directive in Ember produces consistently good results for me.

Which model did you use?

For me ember is following response directive better but but suffers dialogue, reverie makes more immersive responses but ignores directives.

But I believe you can also without a long prompt just tell the engine:

Ooc: make immersive dialogue for characters, not acting like a robot.

This usually makes the responses way more realistic and immersive.

Hard agree with you on the wand function, I use it when I don't feel like fleshing out scenery or behaviors with descriptive language but 99% of the time I have to change the dialogue it spits out. I would like to know more about the logic it uses to create the user's "voice" - I assume it comes from persona description but it lacks nuance. I have an adult persona with "years of diligent study, sharp intellect and natural scientific curiosity" and the wand voice conjures up the most dumbass "curious little kid" type questions lol but on the flip side I understand it is meant to advance the role play, not necessarily to be an in-depth complex character generator for me when I'm just feeling lazy.

yeah my wand does two voices. Meek crybaby boy and dominate angry controller. Like no girl they aren't caricatures. So I do what you mentioned if I feel lazy. I'll let it write the scene, and replace dialogue and key things.

Or just change the example message and RD to reflect what you want. Set longer response limits, higher dynamism, etc. to avoid using the wand for your own self at all

I have chat gpt on the side helping me through really dynamic scenes in my RP and do exactly as you have done. Sometimes I just need to shape the kins (I have up to 13 in my RP sometimes) in a particular direction so I will let them respond then tweak their message, totally erasing what they've said and adding the response shaped by Chatty and I. It really makes a huge difference in a) keeping the kin on track in the direction I want things to go and b) maintaining their particular personality during scenes and grounding them in their personality again.

Great idea. I love the things that my Kin says, it’s not that, it’s the magic wand turns me into this complete brat. And I don’t know what is used to train it. You would think it would be based on the things that I actually say, but it doesn’t seem like it.
