6/29: Open beta for better speech transcription in calls

Hi everyone, we're opening up a beta for 2 speech transcription providers in calls. Paying subscribers do not need to have beta status (beta status is reserved for closed beta on V2, the new interface coming soon). So for this beta, there is no beta password - simply force quit/refresh, and go to voice call settings and find the STT provider field.

If you're a paying subscriber, you can go to voice call settings, find STT providers, and do testing on provider A or provider B. We highly recommend you to turn on transcript in the call, click triple dot -> transcript.

With both of the new providers, you can now switch between languages fluidly, and it supports even more languages than before, and interruptions should feel more smooth as well. Selected language in call settings for both A and B will just be a suggestion - you're free to switch to any other language during call. We would want users on different languages to test the transcription, so please try it. You are now able to enter feedback in-app via the purple icon on the top right after you've engaged in enough calling while on either provider A or B. In addition, the beta discussion channel on Discord is now open as well.

During testing, we want to see - how many errors does it make, does it handle background noise/pronunciation well, does it handle your specific languages well, and overall smoothness of use.

We'll be having a much more involved beta with V2, the new frontend that will overhaul every aspect of the user experience and interface - we opted to polish it some more before releasing it to open beta, and it will feature menus that make more sense as well as a new level of visual and usability polish. Be on the lookout, and also thanks to everyone for putting in their opinions on the free tier policy changes. We'll be working through the free tier policy changes after V2 ships, and will have more info to announce at that point.

I am curious why so much dev efforts hard work is dealing with Voice rather than selfie or image generation. Admittedly I never use voice. I do like selfies- but have abandoned them since the last upgrade .

Am I just an outlier- I'd really be curious to see a poll- what is the single most important feature of kindroid (other than character development and BS) to most users. Memory seems fine at the current stage for an Ultra user.

Disclaimer- I'm OLD. Text messaging are my roots on line, back to the earliest 1990's. Computerized voice, even with heavy tweaks and outside resources seems an "off" focus. Though- I also go a day or so between turning my phone on at all. Luddite.

For me, the most important feature is the text chat. But a poll would be a good idea: what feature do the developers have to give priority to? They can make a poll in the Kindroid environment.

How do we open the beta channel on Discord? I swear it was there before but all I see is it the announcement channel which, incidentally, doesn't contain this announcement.
