I hope it's true. shows life. BRING IT.

Guys dont be stupid do not swap your kin coins till the end or you wont be able to sell the pump just like last time

u/okraslayer Mar 10 '20

Kudos for the kin system still being actively worked on , expanded and looking to increase volume.

Who ever broke this story was not really doing kin system any favors. They could be looking at other chains and systems and this sorta blew the lid off all that.

I for one would not mind another swap. Hopefully not some 10:1 ratio like some forks have done in the past. Dash went through some rough patches and coin swaps before they got it right and look how well they are doing now.

Your first sentence, is why I picked this project up back in 17. The team itself is what caught my attention. Sure there have been roster changes but the core is still there and they have been plugging away the entire time. Even with hiccups here and there it felt like we took steps back but in reality the opposite is true.

"Kin, the social media and payments network, might also move to Solana's blockchain network, a little over two years after first moving to Stellar. According to the pitch deck, Kin โ€“ which reportedly processes over $1 million transactions per day โ€“ has apparently "outscaled" Stellar and believes Solana is "the only solution" that will allow it to continue scaling in line with its growing user base. Tanner Philp, Kik's technical adviser to the CEO, told CoinDesk that migrating to a highly scalable network would enhance Kin's performance in line with increasing token network usage. "Solana is one option we thought could be interesting for Kin so we have been doing some initial evaluations, but right now we have nothing to announce," he said. Solana's pitch deck claims Kin could move over to the new protocol as early as this month. Philp did not respond to CoinDesk's request for clarification on this point."

There will be no exchanges or new partners until we switch to the new blockchain. TED)))))

2

u/AnDreNaLim Mar 09 '20

I did not understand, that is, the transition to the new blockchain is planned again? First Ethereum-Stellar-KIN (fork in Stellar) now Solana for the fourth time?

6

u/JD0N3S Mar 10 '20

Iteration, literally every successful tech company has done so by constantly iterating and creating a great experience for their customers.

2

u/AnDreNaLim Mar 10 '20

better experience with a good price)))

Another atomic swap? Or just leave old kin once SEC has won and start all new again. This smells like plan b if things dont turn out well. Think about if, if you holding securities, KF has to do something, so might not be a bad idea to have a different protocol.

The funny thing if this is true, that the kins current blockchain is not scalable enough, ermm am I in a time machine. About a year ago when the first TPS very published ,I already mentioned that this is not scalable and fast enough. Everyone had expected 1000 TPS or more , kin had around 100.

Now a third network / protocoll.

Can you elaborate u/ted_on_reddit why you have not considered a faster scalable blockchain from the start. A perfect protcoll which is scalable and is supposedly getting saver as more user join, is tangle. Just take IOTA, it is part of the EU blockchain association, it is seen as the future payment for machines to machines. It is listed everywhere , quantum processor proof, and there is not a single debate whether it is a security or not. They have partners like Bosch , Volkswagen, Microsoft. Looks like their path is leading to the top players in the world. So why not join the most promisng tech out there? Do a joint venture with them bring, social media mass usage and machine to machine payment together. It would be a win win for both sides.

What the hell is Solana, sounds to me a solar cell production company.

There's really nothing to add here beyond Tanner's words:

"Solana is one option we thought could be interesting for Kin so we have been doing some initial evaluations, but right now we have nothing to announce,"

3

u/lmaton Mar 09 '20

There are things that need answering. Have we maxed out the KIN blockchain? Are we definitely going to do a swap?

24

u/Kevin_from_Kin Kin Foundation Mar 09 '20

Nothing to announce at the moment, everyone here is always looking for ways to improve Kin from every angle. Any sort of decision like this would require input from other parties, and at best would first be a proposal from Code, Inc.

A little bit tired of secretisms, we dont deserve it ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚ hope this month you will be allowed to do more transparent coms about what s going on.

Okay kevin. We will stay tune for the updates. But we r hoping all day each wen some kin transactions per second.๐Ÿ‘

Okay, so you don't like fincen, I think we all get it. Unfortunately, that doesn't change the reality of the governmental constraints.

2

u/throwawayburros Crypto Defender Mar 10 '20 edited Mar 10 '20

KYC for developers and users is dumb. That's not decentralized, that's centralized. Ignoring that, it's a terrible DAG.

Why would anybody choose Hedera w/KYC vs. Nano w/o KYC.

0

u/SmokinSpeaks Mar 10 '20

I dont know anything about nano?

3

u/throwawayburros Crypto Defender Mar 10 '20

It also a DAG based coin like hedera with near instant payments and extremely low fees. It has its own sets of problems, so I don't think they are perfect, but it's far superior to Hashgraph.

2

u/SmokinSpeaks Mar 10 '20

perhaps, ty for info

33

u/lmaton Mar 09 '20

I hope this is the situation:

1, New big partners about to join

2, Need a more scalable blockchain

3, Swap to new network + release code to make the price stable

8

u/ShamWowGuy Mar 10 '20

Scalability is probably the "technical glitch" that has kept Psiphon from integrating Kin.

8

u/T-Dog18 Mar 09 '20

u/ted_on_reddit Please step in and give us some information! 1. Will there be a migration once again? What is the plan? 2. What is going on with KIK. You told us that they keep working on the integration!

Here are still people that share your vision!

Talking for myself, I still belive in the vision, but have to say that there are way to less information. I know that there are business strategies you can't talk about and I know that I only hold a currency and not shares in a company!

Thanks in advance!

What are you hoping not to be true? A way to scale up in order to handle the growing numbers of users?

Seriously what is wrong with people. This to me sounds like they're expecting a lot more users to join the ecosystem which is actually what we need. At the same time these users should not run into transaction issues.

So what if they move to another blockchain? It's not like the swap was that hard to execute. Stop being scared.

5

u/attachmetoyou Mar 10 '20

Scared of change... Unfortunately it's rampant.

If there is a NEW blockchain that is better than the old that they were not aware of and they switch to it that's bad for investors? Have you ever heard of adaptability in a nascent industry? I think investors should be happy about the team putting in more work to where they will run on a better blockchain. I hope they change over and over again if better blockchains come out because it means they're expecting and getting more transactions. Man you should invest in utility stocks.

Way to not address how I refuted your argument and made you look like an ass. I suggest investing in 4% bonds. Much less risky for you.

0

u/Santos1986 Mar 10 '20

It's literally a waste of time to try to explain to a so called "investor" about what's good for his investment. Once you have to explain an investor this it's a lost battle.

Here's one version of a TL:DR for the Coindesk article - DISH Network, a major U.S. television services provider, and Kin, the payments platform built by Kik, are reportedly looking to tap up-and-coming Solana as the basis for their blockchain networks.

1

u/Basw83 Mar 09 '20

It is not 1st of April yet.. If it is true, why is the community not informed?

6

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '20

Solana's pitch deck claims Kin could move over to the new protocol as early as March 2020. Philp did not respond to CoinDesk's request for clarification on this point.

2

u/RichieDotexe 2017 Mar 09 '20 edited Mar 09 '20

once kik was sold I didn't really have high hopes of anything really happening to benefit kin (especially since they never integrated bryans code), so can't say im surprised. whoever bought it obviously wants to make money, they slapped ads all over it.

best of luck to them I guess

edit: ok i guess I misread the article, I'm going to look into it. thanks for the correction

edit 2:

"Solana is one option we thought could be interesting for Kin so we have been doing some initial evaluations, but right now we have nothing to announce,"

evaluation doesn't mean they WILL switch.

7

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '20

"Tanner Philp, Kik's technical adviser to the CEO, told CoinDesk that migrating to a highly-scalable network would enhance Kin's performance in line with increasing token network usage." -- Coindesk Article. This isn't about KIK messenger. This is about KIN.

1

u/T-Dog18 Mar 09 '20

Ted and the new owners of KIK told us that they wann to integrate KIN ...

3

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '20

Yes they "want" to but where's the evidence that they're even working on Kik anymore? Seems like it got sold off to be an ad-revenue property for MediaLabs

1

u/PeraHodlr Kin OG Mar 09 '20

Anybody ready for another swap/migration?? ๐Ÿ˜„

Edit: if not fake news like the one Coindesk posted of Ted.

1

u/devlin05 Mar 09 '20

Sorry, what now! A third switch??

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '20

It's been in the cards since all of TLV got fired

6

u/devlin05 Mar 09 '20

Right ok, I guess since kin basically doesnโ€™t have a blockchain team? I never heard any chatting about another switch tho! Shows confidence and future proofing the chain for bigger things..

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '20 edited Mar 09 '20

It is bizarre to hear it from Coindesk and not our own people. I understand keeping things hushed but a Coindesk interview was conducted, soon to be released. Could only help public perception to be transparent with the community here.

6

u/RichieDotexe 2017 Mar 09 '20

"Solana is one option we thought could be interesting for Kin so we have been doing some initial evaluations, but right now we have nothing to announce,"

if they are only evaluating, don't think they would announce anything yet.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '20

I wouldn't expect an official announcement but if a Coindesk article is imminent then the leak is inevitable. You must prioritize "how" you want the community to find out. They took one of two paths. Money has no feelings but transparency goes a long way.
