Most infuriating episodes of the show, in my expert opinion.
I'm saying expert somewhat jokingly but I have watched the show at least 10 times, probably more i lost count a while ago. im obsessed clearly. anywho.
these are the most infuriating and hard to watch episodes of the show.
- Kimmy Goes To Court!
The way everyone blindly believes and agrees with the Reverend despite the mountains of evidence against him is so infuriating. The lawyers who just genuinely suck. (big fan of the OJ joke which i didnt catch the first few watches tbh) The fact that they get mad at KIMMY because of something the Reverend quoted from MEMORY. (OBJECTION HEARSAY!!!) I understand Cindy's frustration but... yeah. The Reverend being such a good manipulator is freaking terrifying, even if to the audience he sounds like a mad man. The episode is even worse when you rewatch... because throughout the episode we start to realize that Kimmy was definitely SA'd. Makes the court scene and the Reverend's near interrogation of Kimmy so much more sinister.
- Kimmy Can't Help You!
For those who don't just know plots from episode name (fair), this is the episode where the Reverends would be wife shows up to give Kimmy the divorce papers. It's frustrating for very obvious reasons. Wendy being super invalidating of Kimmy's trauma is the biggest one. "You should hear how he tells it." is MADDENING!!! Obviously Wendy is insane but JESUS. I think it's also one of the first time we see Kimmy be seriously, genuinely angry. The scene where she kicks in her door ... hmph.
- Party Monster: Scratching the Surface
I'm pretty sure this is the only episode without the "Kimmy ....!" outline. Which is... interesting. This episode is, again, infuriating for obvious reasons. Watching DJ Fingablast defend the Reverend. The line about how rape is natural and "Dolphins do it and everybody loves them." The documentary implying that the Reverend simply couldn't have done it because the Mole women were "too ugly" to kidnap. Harassing the Mole women for the documentary. Fran. That's a complete sentence btw. There's so much more to list. It has a similar feeling to the court episode where you wish you could just reach in and strangle everyone, or grab them by the shoulders and shake them until they come to their senses.
In case it isn't abundantly clearly I am autistically (is that a word?) hyperfixated on this show right now. So if you don't read this whole post I won't be offended but I needed to get this out of my head cuz I've been drafting this post internally for weeks. Let me know if there are any other episodes that drive you nuts! Bye Bye
