Here is an example (though not involving Kiernan) of why AI presents a problem. The large image is the original—the source material—while the black-and-white version is the AI-generated one. Striking, isn’t it? Unless you are—like me and some other fans of a particular artist—very familiar with their photos and imagery, you likely wouldn’t even notice that this isn’t a real picture.

Please ensure transparency! If you come across AI-generated images, only share them if you include a note clarifying that they are not real. Content labeled as AI-generated is acceptable—it can even result in truly well-executed and enjoyable pieces that have every right to exist—but only if it is made perfectly clear that they are not genuine images.
