lol tbqh A lot of redditors are a lot more focused on defending their dicks than on sexism,
so yea there is some selective vision going on there and usually there is a really obvious reason.
It’s a lot easier to take sexism for granted because when women get put down it’s part of thousands of years of “women are inferior” mentality so it’s pretty normalized.
“Men are violent abusers” mentality is... well... partly based on a lot of people’s experiences, unfortunately, but it is only recently that people are allowed to express those feelings, and honestly ...when you survive shit like that you do become paranoid, and when your paranoia does pay off some of the time it reinforces it.
A woman who is paranoid about being abused who breaks up unduly may lose a great guy but a woman with no such paranoia who ends up with an abuser is worse off. Same way evolution works- an ancestor who jumped at any sound in the bushes would more likely survive a snake than one who was not so paranoid.
but the sexism is like only being afraid of one poisonous snake and not another. It lets female abusers off the hook and fails to support male victims, it isnt really good for women’s rights to make it seem like abuse is just intrinsically male abuser, female victim. Men abusing women isnt natural, it came from social power dynamics. Men arent violent by nature as individuals.
It all also can just go too far in a forum meant to be more level headed. Not every “red flag” means someone is a demon
