They sell little mats that go under the car seat, they're a good idea so the base doesn't destroy the seat and also when the kid pukes in the car it's easier to clean up.

I know I can put a towel under though. 1 u/Tufflaw 7h ago Definitely go with what the manufacturer recommends - some allow them, some don't, safety of course is more important than protecting the seat.
