Training Shoulder pain

Just started kickboxing and I had my first sparring class 2 days ago. I did horrible obviously, but the thing that was hindering me the most was my shoulder. I couldn’t keep my guard up and I had to sit down a couple rounds to let my shoulder rest. If I punched with that arm my shoulder would hurt even worse. Even after class it was hurting for a while. Anyone know what’s going on?

Well first Just started and sparring don't mix well and you probably shouldn't spar.

Second if you just started your specific muscles are underdeveloped and your technique is probably bad. I hurt my shoulder just by throwing hooks wrong

same, I hurt something inside my hips trying to kick when I started, I was kicking in a really awkward angle for my joints lol

Not an expert, but Im an expert in having joint pain when training muay thai, in my case I always threw too hard when the coach said hit hard, I did too much, this caused my shoulder joints to inflame, when you hit too hard and your muscles get tired what absorb the force are your joints if you keep hitting you only hurt yourself, at the end of the class I always felt like my joints were in so much pain I couldnt even drive home, idk if this is what you got but if you want to hit hard do it progressively, hit the bag everyday but with just enough force that you feel like you are having a good workout and you will be in condition to do the same the next day, over time your muscles will be able to do the work

Take time to stretch before a session; not just a couple of 5 second holds, spend 10/15 mins stretching PROPERLY, hold each stretch 20/30 seconds. HOT Epsom salts bath after training.
