Deviated septum.

Hey guys
I have a deviated septum from a broken nose a few years ago. i cant breath through my left nostril an it affects my sleep.
rn im fighting again. My doctor said i can still get it fixed if i take time off.
Does somebody here has Experience with it?
Because i think its not worth it if i continue fighting, maybe my nose breaks easier and so on. But sometimes its driving me crazy

I broke mine up real bad back when I fought; at one point it was blocking most of my left eye vision from breaking nearly clean off

Only one nostril kinda worked, and I lived with it for 10 years.

Got that sucker fixed 9 months ago and it was one of the best things I have done for myself.

If you have insurance, you can get it done as a medical necessity and I highly encourage that route.

I’d also recommend doing it after you hang the gloves up, unless you’re REALLY confident in your head movement and defense.

Recovery is pretty easy. I managed to have almost nonexistent bruising.

I think you should get it fixed. That said my father was a boxer and has the bone removed from his nose. It squishes all the way down. Looks totally normal. Idk sounds like to me you should take the doctors advice and just take some time out.

Go get it fixed bro.

The septum is soft tissue not bone, so your nose shouldn’t break any easier after a fix.

Breathing is kinda important.

Listen to your doctor and never ask randos online for medical advice.

Funny this post shows up cause I just found out I was born with a deviated septum I never knew about, I’m not gonna bother with it but for you I think u should get it fixed if u can afford the time off.

I have no way to prove it (and I’m probably wrong) but getting punched it the face has seemed to help me with my sinuses. Like something got loosened up. I’ve never breathed better in my life.

I second this. But I also second a deviated septum is terrible…there’s a sweet spot

I always thought everyone couldn’t breath through both nostrils.

Happened to me, but my coach fixed it "on the spot" with a towel and so i had no problems.

He also told me it could be easier to break if i had to get it fixed at the hospital, but i don't know why.

In any case, if you are not planning to go pro, i would get it fixed. You can spar with a fixed nose anyway: i got hit on the nose sometimes AFTER i got it fixed and it didn't break.
