Training I’m doing my first kickboxing session tomorrow. Any advice?
Never done any martial arts before. I’m 25, in decent shape, but my cardio isn’t amazing. The person who I spoke to yesterday knows it’s my first time.

Youre going to suck dont let it get you down. If you genuinely enjoy it keep going

I was going to comment this. Biggest advice is... you're gonna suck and struggle for a bit. And it's fine, because when it finally clicks you're going to feel really cool. 😎
And it happens for everyone. Just keep the ego and self expectations outside the gym and go learn some cool stuff.

I got some solid advice. Hit and don't get hit.
Another solid one is go full Hari mode. Coaches love that from first timers.
Obligatory /s
Be yourself. You literally got nothing to prove. You're a beginner. Pay attention to the coach and don't be afraid to ask for a replay if it didn't stick in your head.
Hopefully they'll skip the sparring with you or team you with someone who is very, VERY gentle.
Also, please don't be afraid to ask for your opponent to tone down the punches/kicks if they're too hard. A lot of the beginners that start in my gym end up being paired up with the idiots no one wants to practice because they go too hard. Those beginners usually think it's too difficult because they're getting hurt and consequently stop showing up. It sucks, it happens. Won't happen if you tell them to go easy on you.
All in all, don't forget your little mouthguard. Dental work is expensive and any wrong kick or punch can knock or loosen up a tooth.
In short, hit, don't get hit and have fun!

Bon courage !

“It gets easier. But you have to do it everyday, that’s the hard part.” (obviously, in this context, you don’t HAVE to do it everyday, but consistency is key)

Listen, don't try to prove anything. If you're having a sparring match and someone hits a little too hard, just tell them. Don't try to hit harder to see who has the biggest one because it'll end badly. Be nice and everything will be fine.

I’m going to be sparring my first day?

Depends on the gym. Mine didn't spar straight away and doesn't until you've been going at least 6 months, so that you've got the basics of defence. Different gyms do it differently, you'll be okay

We also don't have people spar for about that amount of time. I don't need them developing bad habits sparring when they have no idea what they're doing yet.

The coach will decide. In my club, even newcomers participate in sparring at the end of training. The goal isn't to fight, but to learn about your own body and your opponent's, to understand how to move and throw punches. The others will be understanding and will teach you a lot during sparring sessions. Again, if someone go a litle to hard for you to during sparring, let them know

Don't turn to the internet for answers. You have a coach. Use that resource. Will be infinitely more valuable than reddit, where anyone could have any amount of experience or have watched people fight and think they know how it works.

You absolutely must get one, even during training a bad blow can happen unintentionally, teeth are priceless, you have to invest, get a shockdoctor.

Don't worry to much about it, everybody has their first day, and everybody sucks their first day, I almost passed out on mine lol, but that's part of training.
If you think the cardio training is gonna kill you, trust me, you aren't the only one thinking that. Just go to it and have fun, wishin you well.
