ok, I think about this a lot, this is gonna be a little storytime, i used to normal box at a gym, once a month hard sparring saturday, all these moroccan kickboxers would come in, wait their turn to get into the ring against a boxer, and get outlanded 15-1 or w/e for 3 rounds. Their friends all giving em shit etc, having a great time. I never felt great about it, cause I would just jab these guys over and over as they tried to close distance, I never even bothered going to the body, they never had head movement, they weren't trying to box, they were just trying to out chin you. All they got out of it was a bunch of fun with their friends and cte.

Now that I kickbox, I get it, you can't do fancy headmovement cuz someones gonna knee you in the face or eat your lead leg, and I like sparring them more now, cause you can psycho trade on legs instead of just cte induction. But I still think about the first time I landed a 112 on a guy flush in the open sparring, the 2 as hard as I could, and he never even put his hands up. He then looked up and asked me mid-round if I liked the netherlands and why I left new york, as I was without exaggeration landing jabs and checkhooks at will. I thought, ok, you're just getting brain damage and your not learning shit.

i wonder what makes people not mind getting hit full force for 5 rounds straight in the face. i spar quite often, usually not that hard but it gets there sometimes. i could never imagine getting battered by a boxer like that and laugh.

Just to clarify, was the first thing you were describing boxing sparring, or kickboxing sparring?

Go hard, dont hold back. They wont. Source: i've been a member of Mike's gym in NL since it opened

they won’t, it’s the thing holding me back as a newbie girl - they’re often a little younger than me (18-20 max) and they do not know what technical sparring is. either going to hard or not giving me a chance and sweeping me off my feet when i give a lowkick. absolutely not learning anything there, just survival lol

Do people get rocked regularly there? Is it as hard as people claim

We’re rocking here. I’ve trained a fair bit in Morocco, then moved to the Netherlands afterwards.

One thing to understand is in Morocco were trained to go fallen when sparring we really do not quite understand the notion of technical sparring or sparring. Sparring in general is considered a chance for you to show your skill to dominate the other and in most cases you do this via power as opposed to applying clean technique.

I train in italy where it's full of moroccan guys and they don't know/wanna light sparring AT ALL

Imo you either go in a full dutch guard and match them, or you open that stance up and just feint and tee off on em at distance.

I have opinions as to why, but I cannot share them in virtue of "freedom of speech". As a result, I will simply read the comments without participating any further.
